Taking Action This Juneteenth
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Celebration Day, is a U.S. holiday commemorating the emancipation of slaves in the United States. On June 19, 1865, the Emancipation Proclamation was read in Texas to African Americans slaves. Texas was the last state to read the Emancipation Proclamation, which had been signed by Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. GNJ leaders are actively taking steps to be a more racially just, equitable and inclusive church, but they need your input. Three listening sessions have been scheduled across GNJ to hear your hopes for our future. Please join our conversations and share this information with your congregations.
