Taking Action This Juneteenth

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Celebration Day, is a U.S. holiday commemorating the emancipation of slaves in the United States. On June 19, 1865, the Emancipation Proclamation was read in Texas to African Americans slaves. Texas was the last state to read the Emancipation Proclamation, which had been signed by Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. GNJ leaders are actively taking steps to be a more racially just, equitable and inclusive church, but they need your input. Three listening sessions have been scheduled across GNJ to hear your hopes for our future. Please join our conversations and share this information with your congregations.

Deepen Faith

"Caution: Watch Your Step" from Delaware Bay DS Glenn Conaway: The sign could not have been any clearer with extra-large letters, all capitalized in dark print, and on a large yellow piece of plastic that has been the color for caution all my life. It was in plain view, not too high or too low and I had my glasses on, although I do need an eye exam. None the less there was no excuse for my missing the step and fumbling around, grabbing for something in midair while trying to keep my balance and composure. Read more

Develop Leadership

Jesus healed through reversal, rescue and restoration. His healing did not just leave bodies and spirits whole. It left communities whole as well, writes Warren Kinghorn, a psychiatrist and theologian. What does healing look like this season in your communities? Read more

Young People Exploring Faith, Racisim and Creativity

Our Next Gen Ministries has created a special opportunity to engage young people this summer with curriculum that will deepen faith and unleash the potential of our youth. From July 6 through July 30, young people can release their creativity with Inspire @ Home or explore the intersection of faith and racism with Transform @ Home. Please share these opportunities with the young people in your congregation. Read more
