"Rise up nimbly and go on your strange journey to the ocean of meanings. The stream knows it can't stay on the mountain. Leave and don't look away from the sun as you go, in whose light you are sometimes crescent, sometimes full." ~Rumi

Hello Luminous~

How's this week finding you? Alongside the natural wax and wane, I've been feeling more full this month, falling a little bit more in love with my life, through more real-time connection with yoga and creative writing community. This is national poetry month for those who might not know--I myself have forgotten a few times--and it creates the space for us to remember the ways our daily practice of living is itself poetry.

I taught a yoga & writing workshop at Burlington High School two weeks ago, and this past weekend taught "Writing with the Self as Witness" at GrubStreet. In both spaces of high school lunch lounge and large windowed classroom, pigeons outside the glass in upward flight, we made the space holy---in both spaces, we explored the ways the body is a vessel for experience, while poetry and creative writing are vehicles for exploration, expression and emotion. We connected around the ways the sacred, mundane, and even profane in our lives can both break us open, and make us more whole. The way our life experiences can be doorways, inviting us to connect more deeply with our human and spiritual selves, one another, and something larger.

The yoga classes I've subbed this month have also fed this fullness. Alongside my own deep creative work, elbow deep these days in poems and revisions and deep study of poetic craft so that I can continue to grow my own creative expression, and support "this long, drawn out unearthly labor"--- the continued birthing of a book.

Creating Our Way Forward

So what's next you wonder? Here's what's scheduled so far at GrubStreet:

I'll be teaching Poetry 101 a six week series for adults at GrubStreet this summer starting July 6. Class will be on Fridays from 6-9 pm

I'll also be teaching a Teen week of poetry at GrubStreet August 13-17. If you are parent to or know any high school students who are looking to play and write this summer, please spread the word.

I'm offering "Poetry and the Body" as a one-day workshop at GrubStreet on Saturday August 25, from 10am-4pm. {This is the re-alchemized "Embodied Poetics" class that was scheduled at Grub for March but didn't run due to low registration.} Link not yet live--I'll keep you posted.

I'm offering a FREE Happy Hour Writing Session at GrubStreet on August 10, from 5:30-6:30pm

Space is limited to 12 for all classes {except for the Happy Hour session which is 30} so if you're coming, grab your spot!

*Is cost an issue? For all classes, teen and adult alike, Grub is committed to making classes accessible to all--- consider applying for a scholarship. Details are included for each class on the registration page.*

Group Yoga Classes

As of now, I don't have any new sub dates scheduled, but I've been good about keeping my website updated for those of you who look there.
