The OSC's priorities

A mutual fund is an investment that is made up of a pool of funds collected from many investors that invests in a variety of securities. Mutual funds form a large part of many investors' portfolios, and can be an important vehicle for building wealth. This edition of Investor News is dedicated to all things mutual funds.

Mutual Fund Fees

It's important to know how a mutual fund's fees affect the return that you get on your investment. When you purchase a mutual fund, you may pay sales charges, transaction fees, account fees, or other charges depending on the funds that you buy, how you buy them and what accounts you hold them in. No matter what type of mutual fund it is, there are fees attached.

Even small fees can turn into large differences in returns over time. Before you purchase a mutual fund, make sure you understand its fees and the different expenses that will affect your return.
