On behalf of all of us at the OSC, we wish you a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!
We're feeling very thankful ourselves this season. Since introducing the new Investor Office last fall, we've seen double-digit (and sometimes triple-digit) percentage increases in the number of people using our resources and tools and participating in our outreach activities. We’ve also been able to lead several important research and policy projects that aim to help better protect investors. Look for our upcoming annual report to hear more about our activities and accomplishments over the past year.
Achieving better outcomes for investors is a team effort, and having the support of investor, community and industry partners and other stakeholders across Ontario helps us in what we do. Many of you have also been sharing Investor News with your friends, colleagues and family members, which helps get our message out to those who need it.
From all of us, thank you!

Saving for your child's education
There are many costs if you want your children to attend university, college or an apprenticeship program in Canada after high school. The largest expense is likely to be tuition, but there are also things like housing, textbooks and food costs, and these can get expensive. One way to save for these costs is by opening a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP).

Fraud and Checking Registration
There’s a saying that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Fraudulent investment opportunities and the people trying to sell them can sometimes be very convincing, so it’s important to learn what some common scams look like and where they can happen.
One of the best ways to avoid investment fraud is to verify that any person offering you an investment or investing advice is registered to do so.
