Good afternoon,

Welcome to Ballymena BID’s Newsletter, highlighting the news from the past number of weeks and also outlining what is taking place within the BID. It has been a very busy period for the BID, which included our AGM which was held on 13th September.

We hope you enjoy reading our newsletter.  Your continued support of the Ballymena BID is very much appreciated.

Best regards
Alison Moore
BID Manager

AGM

There was a good turnout of members, which reflected on our successful first year.  Our newly elected Chairman is Martin North, Manager of Fairhill Shopping Centre who, on behalf of the Ballymena BID members, thanked the outgoing Chairman Terry Robb, Ulster Bank, for his time and commitment over the past year.

Any paid up member is eligible to become a member of the BID Limited Company.  Please contact the BID office for a membership form.

Retail Audit

Ballymena BID has partnered up with renowned retail business expert Hugh Black to offer members the opportunity to conduct a retail audit of their business.  Hugh started his retail career over 30 years ago and was the youngest ever manager of Dunnes Stores in Ballymena.

Ten BID members will be able to avail of a retail audit offer with Ballymena BID covering half the cost and any retail business can take part.  The detailed audit will look at every aspect of the business, both in store and online, and provide the business owner with a full detailed report and recommendation on how to take your business to the next level.

By looking at your business from a customer’s perspective, it gives you the opportunity to identify and understand how to improve key elements which in turn will increase footfall, drive sales, improve customer satisfaction and improve overall merchandising and presentation.  Ballymena BID offer is available on a first come first served basis.  To avail of the offer please contact Ballymena BID on (028) 2568 9440. Reduction in Retail Theft

We are pleased to announce that latest figures on retail theft in the town show a marked reduction of 14.7% for the period April to March 2016 when compared with the same period in 2014/15.

The Ballymena BID Company Safer Cleaner and Accessible Group oversee the Crime Strategy for Ballymena Town Centre with the overall objective to produce a low crime Town Centre environment for both the business sector and the consumer.

If your business is not already a member of the radio link theft prevention scheme please contact Trevor Parker, Development Manager for Ballymena Retailers Against Crime on (028) 2564 6050 to obtain more information.  Read more.

Retail Theft Awareness Training

Ballymena Retailers Against Crime (BRAC) has agreed, under a Service Agreement with the Ballymena BID Co, to extend the Retail Theft Awareness Training that has been available to BRAC Radio Link Members, to include BID members.

The training for retail staff covers general recognition awareness training and how to deter potential thefts using a variety of techniques.

The training can be delivered in-store and at times suitable for the business. A number of visits can be made with training delivered to two or three staff at a time if this is more convenient for the retailer. Each session is approximately 30 minutes.

Requests for the BRAC training can be made by contacting Ballymena BID Co, or by contacting Trevor Parker directly on 028 2564 6050 or emailing bracmanager@talktalkbusiness.net.

Ballymena BID wins £25,000 of free bus advertising

Ballymena BID is on a high after winning free bus advertising worth £25,000 thanks to a competition launched by Exterion Media through its corporate partnership of Business in the Community’s (BITC) Healthy High Streets Programme!

We will use the free advertising to promote the town’s hugely successful and highly anticipated annual discount day which takes place on Thursday, 3rd November 2016.

The bus advertising, which will complement our current marketing strategy, means that local high street retailers and businesses will be able to reach a wider audience and encourage more visitors to come to Ballymena and experience all it has to offer. By utilising bus advertising on routes throughout Coleraine to Larne, the town and local businesses will hopefully reap the benefits.  Read more.

Renewable Partnerships will work with each client business over the term of the BID, ensuring that an optimum buying arrangement is maintained. They will manage all aspects of supplier switch across (as necessary) and update relevant managers / business owners of macro influencing factors which will impact the cost of energy by a biannual reporting framework.
