AUTUMN NEWSLETTER 2019

Hello! The schools are back, the nights are drawing in, and we've a busy and exciting Autumn ahead with new things to do and significant  progress on main areas of work.

New this month -  Drop in for coffee at the new weekly cafe at Muirfield Riding Therapy; join a singing workshop at Wallyford and hear about bringing all ages together  at Dunbar Grammar School. You can also join us planting bulbs for spring (or watch!) at Cockenzie House & Gardens and book your seat at  Dementia Friendly Tosca in Edinburgh.

Meeting Centres - The conversation continues. Some communities are setting up planning groups to explore if Meeting Centres can make a significant difference. We need carers, people with dementia and people from across the community to get involved so we make decisions and plans that work in real life.

Research - getting the information you need when you need it should be easy, but it's a big issue for many of us. Dr Julie Wilson from Edinburgh University  is looking for people with dementia and Carers for her research: Beyond the Margins.   We will use the research to improve what happens in East Lothian.

Housing & Home - We'll be working with the Life Changes Trust's BOLD programme (Bringing Out Leaders in Dementia) and About Dementia - the LCT Policy and Practice Forum. We kick off with the About Dementia Housing Sub Group meeting in East Lothian on 22 October.

All of the strands will come together at our Spring 2020 Gathering.

Find out more about events and what's happening in the Friendship Groups below. Please get in touch if you've ideas, comments or questions.

Here's to Living and not Existing!

Take care
