Live for moments you can’t put into  words. Anonymous.

When Mum was diagnosed with dementia, she said the most important thing I could do was to help her live not exist. I did all I could to keep that promise and her words guided us both through the ups and downs of living with dementia.

Living not existing is what DFEL is about, feeding mind, body and soul and the science agrees!  A growing body of research shows that staying connected to family, friends and your community, learning new things and being active can help us live well with dementia and can delay symptoms progressing. There are no promises and no cure (yet) but there’s nothing to lose.

You can get involved in walking; do yoga with the primary school; learn (and eat!) Italian and work with us on new projects on memory, gardens and eating together. You are  very welcome to join us at any of our Friendship Groups or events. All free, all dementia friendly.

Data Protection law changes in May giving you more control over your personal information and how it's used. We have e-mailed everyone who has already signed up asking you to change your settings if you want to stay in touch. You can also contact us directly or sign up via the Website ( or using this form:

It's your choice and your decision. We never share your information with others,  we only use it to send you the newsletter or updates and there are plenty of other ways to keep in touch.

Take care and hope to see you soon!

The Adult Mental Health Team run Memory Rehab Courses for people with memory problems and  people who have or might have a diagnosis of a dementia.  We've been working with the team to help ensure that you have things to do, places to go and people to see.

Courses are held in community venues and the last session ends with a light lunch. Past course members are invited to come along. They share information about what's going on locally and people have made firm friends.
