We asked two staff, a volunteer and a VISTA:
What are you thankful for this season?
KRISTA | Thankful for adult students at her VISTA host site

"They've taught me so much about their lives and cultures. I see the world differently because of them."

Krista serves as a Literacy VISTA at ThinkSelf/CSD (Communication Service for the Deaf). She is developing a parent education program for deaf/hard-of-hearing adults taking adult basic education classes.
LIAM | Thankful for the GED online learning platform, PLATO

"With PLATO, our GED students can study before and after class and at home."

Liam, our Community Engagement Coordinator, works in our distance learning labs three days per week. Since we launched PLATO in September, 83 students have logged 400 additional hours of study using the platform.
LAURA | Thankful for literacy council volunteers and staff

"They always give 100%+ to provide literacy services to those in need."

Laura, a donor and literacy council board member, has just wrapped up seven years of board service to the literacy council.
ELLIE | Thankful for hundreds of volunteer inquiries this fall

"It's really inspiring when community members decide they want to volunteer. I feel lucky to be their first contact and to support them along their way."

Ellie, our Volunteer Outreach Manager, received 359 new volunteer inquiries between Sept. 1st and Nov. 15th
70 more than the same period last year!
