Celebrate International Literacy Day with us

Show your support of literacy for all Minnesotans through our
International Literacy Day campaign!

September 8, 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of International Literacy Day, when governments, communities, organizations, schools and individuals join together to raise awareness of literacy needs worldwide. As a literacy champion, you are already making a difference right here in Minnesota.

Will you go the extra mile to show your support and share your encouragement?
Participating in the campaign is easy:
 Visit our website to read our message of support for all adult learners.
2) Click to add your name!
3) Starting September 8, we'll deliver the message + signatures to our Open Door Learning Centers. Follow us on Facebook to see photos!
Imagine hundreds of signatures  and the encouragement that will give our learners. Will yours be one of them?
3 thank yous!
{Our work is possible thanks to your generous support for literacy.}
Shout out to the HDR Foundation for their grant of $15,000 for technology upgrades at our learning centers. Special thanks to HDR employee and GED volunteer teacher Monica Peterson, who helped explain how this support would benefit her class. Bonus: Receiving an oversized check from the foundation! See us try to deposit it at our bank.
Simon Says Give, a local nonprofit started by 13-year-old Mandi Simon, gave us 400 backpacks stuffed with school supplies. Preschoolers like Milena and many parents enrolled in our programs were excited to receive this back-to-school gift!
Starting with their September Literacy Month promotion, Half Price Books will place coin boxes at the registers of their seven Minnesota locations and donate all proceeds to us! We'll also be spreading the word about volunteer opportunities by giving away free bookmarks at each store.
Hope to see you!
{Mark your calendar for upcoming events.}
