MHE publishes discussion paper on the European Pillar of Social Rights 

MHE recently published a Discussion Paper on the European Pillar of Social Rights, which is the most recent EU Commission social initiative. The Social Pillar will be a key area of work for MHE in the coming year, as it represents a new opportunity for the organisation and our members to further advocate for better health and social policies that contribute to better mental health and well-being.

MHE Capacity Building Event & Mental Health Ireland 50 Year Anniversary

This year, MHE Capacity Building Event coincided with Mental Health Ireland's 50 Year Anniversary in Dublin. With about 200 participants in the room and the participation of the Irish Minister for Health and prominent speakers, the event has been a real success. The two-days discussions focused on building resilience and rethinking approaches to mental health in services.

Further to the successful MHE capacity building event and Mental Health Ireland's 50 Year Anniversary in Dublin, the Irish Times  just published an article about the event. The article explores way to improve our mental health.

European Coalition to end violence against women and girls 

MHE is a member of the European Coalition to end violence against women and girls. The Coalition gathers more than 25 European civil society networks joining forces to call on the EU to sign and ratify the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, the
Istanbul Convention.

Eurofound's sixt European Working Conditions Survey published 

Eurofound recently published its sixth European Working Conditions Survey which analyses important work-related issues including physical and psychosocial risks, working time, lifelong learning, work-life balance, work and gender as well as health and well-being. The report includes some interesting findings on mental health.

Bptk Survey on mental health support to migrants

MHE German member organisation BptK is currently conducting a survey on psychotherapeutic care of refugees in the EU together with the Network for Psychotherapeutic Care in Europe (NPCE). The surveys aims at mapping the situation of mental health care for refugees in European countries. If you are working on the issue, please do take the survey to help shed  light on the current situation.

MHE becomes official partner of EU-OSHA campaign for healthy workplaces

MHE is now an official partner of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work campaign "Healthy Workplaces for All Ages 2016-17". The Campaign was launched in April 2016. Its main objective is to promote healthy workplaces and lifestyles in Europe’s enterprises (both private and public). The campaign aims at promoting more sustainable work and healthy ageing from the beginning of working life.

On air: MHE Director interview for Newstalk Radio

MHE Director Akiko Hart was interviewed by Dr. Ciara Kelly on Newstalk's health and wellbeing show. Newstalk is Ireland's National Independent Talk Radio Broadcaster. Akiko talked about resilience, safe spaces in mental health services and how we can use language to help destigmatise mental health.

Training opportunity: Beyond the Personal? Re-thinking mental health & Society 

On December 13, MHE will deliver a one day training on today’s mental health practice and the different perspectives that influence it. The training's objective is to develop greater awareness of the many forms of mental health stigma, prejudice and discrimination, and how we can challenge them. New calls for proposals published under the third EU Health Programme 
 
New calls for proposals have been recently launched within the EU  Public Health Programme. Two of them are mental health related including one on access to mental health care and mental health literacy and another one on mental health problems and violence.
