Press release: European Commission must keep its promise to achieve a more social Europe

On the 14th of September, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker delivered his State of the Union address before the Members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. CRPD Committee publishes general comments on Women with Disabilities 
 
The UN Committee on the rights of persons with disabilities adopted General Comments on women and girls with disabilities. Some of the comments refer to women with psychosocial disabilities and the fact that their views and decisions are not taken into account often as a result of the denial of legal capacity. Comments also address important issues including forced sterilisation, forced placement in psychiatric wards and the heightened risk of abuse that women with psychosocial disabilities face, particularly sexual violence, when deprived of their liberty in such places.

European Commissioner for Health to open MHE's conference on World Mental Health Day

European Commissioner for Health Vytenis Andriukaitis will be opening MHE conference  in the European Parliament on October 10th. The event will be co-hosted by MEP Miriam Dalli and MEP Julie Ward and will be livestreamed on their facebook pages. If you haven’t registered yet, now is the time! Join the Mental Health Thematic Network  of the  European Health Policy Platform

The EU Commission has launched the EU Health Policy Platform, which is a collaborative initiative to ease the communication between the Commission services and health stakeholders. It is aimed to be inclusive and to reflect geographical and professional diversity of the participants. We strongly encourage MHE member organisations to register and request access to this platform through the Commission website to be part of the online Agora, which consists in open discussion area accessible to all stakeholders who registered in the IT Platform. Once you have signed up, you can join the Mental Health Thematic Network, upload resources and comment on MHE statement.
