Impacting the lives of prisoners

“… I was in prison and you came to visit me …whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Matt 25:39-40

David Kachitambo was a violent man in and out of prison. Out of curiosity he joined the Veritas training presented in Maula prison, Malawi in southeast Africa. This was the start of a new life for him. “Through understanding God’s Word and that Christ died for me, I have experienced His love. My life changed completely, I am a new creation.”
Training at Maula prison, Lilongwe, Malawi.
Through the sacrificial service of volunteer Veritas facilitators from Kaning’a Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in Lilongwe, David’s life and the lives of many other prisoners are being changed by the truth of the Word. One of these volunteer facilitators is Fern Sadyalunda. She was the first female cabinet minister in the country and later imprisoned without trial as a political prisoner. She is now a Veritas Malawi board member.

Wesley Tsoka is a volunteer facilitator who says that although he cannot preach, he can teach others what he has learned from the Word. Veritas has given him the tools to do this.

More than 80 prisoners in Malawi have done Module 1; Module 2 has been done by 64; Module 3 by 36; and a group is now doing Module 4.
The following short film is about the compassionate service of members of Kaning'a CCAP in a Lilongwe prison. Inmates are facilitated to study the Veritas Bible courses and experience Christ's changing power in their lives.

In Namibia 7 prisoners have done Module 1 and some are now busy with Module 2. One of the facilitators is Oaeb Ismael who was himself a prisoner. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour in prison. After his release he went to study at a seminary (NETS) in Windhoek where he was introduced to Veritas. He now goes back to prison during his vacations to train his former “colleagues”. One of his students says, “You cannot just pick a text from the Bible to preach, you first have to work to understand the Bible in its context. That is what I learned during the Veritas course.”
