CANet Team Expands

CANet is thrilled to welcome Pamela Fuselli, Dimitri Popolov and Natalie Szudy to the team!

Pamela Fuselli is joining CANet as the Theme Leader for KT. Pamela Fuselli is the Interim CEO at Parachute and has worked in the injury prevention field for over 17 years.  Pam has strong relationships with the research community across Canada as well as with leading organizations such as the BC Injury Research & Prevention Unit, Injury Prevention Unit in Alberta, and the Atlantic Collaborative for Injury Prevention.  She received her BSC in Psychology from the University of Toronto in 1992, her BHA (2002) from Ryerson University and MSc (2010) in Creativity and Change Leadership from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. We are very excited to have Pamela's KT leadership here at CANet.

Dimitri Popolov is joining CANet as the new Research Data and Systems Manager. Dimitri will be responsible for the overall management,operations and administration of the CANet research data management strategy - including Heart-SIGN. Before joining CANet, Dimitri was with IBM, EMC and other leading IT companies in data management and data science space. Dimitri holds a PhD in Computer Sciences & Engineering from De Montfort University – Leicester, UK. He conducted research in Computer-Mediated Communication and Human-Computer Interaction. Dimitri also holds a Master’s in Computer Science from Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow, Russia.

Natalie Szudy is joining CANet as the new HQP and Project Coordinator. Natalie will be responsible for the implementation and overall success of CANet's HQP programs. Before joining CANet, Natalie was a Research Consultant with Western University and brings extensive experience in research administration and project management. Natalie holds a PhD and a Masters degree in Health Sciences from Western University.

Jiro Goes To Greece

CANet CHAT Member, Jiro Inoue was awarded a CANet CHAT Travel Award to participate and present his paper at MICCAI (Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention) 2016 and STACOM (Statistical and Computational Models of the Heart) 2016, held in Athens, Greece from Oct. 17 to Oct. 20, 2016.

Jiro presented his left atrial wall segmentation challenge paper and networked and engaged with arrhythmia researchers from the US and UK on the usefulness of left atrial wall thickness in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. 

Jiro had a very positive experience and made a number of important connections to help advance his research.
