City Manager Update

Larkspur Community:

Larkspur staff is working hard to enhance our communications program.  As part of this effort, we are excited to launch this bi-weekly e-newsletter, which we will be using to share information about City projects, issues, initiatives, and events.

The City Manager Update will be circulated every two weeks on Thursday's. The update will identify topics we hope are of interest to you and point you toward more detailed information when it is available on our website.

You are receiving this e-newsletter because your e-mail address was registered with one of the City’s resource lists. If you would like to change the way you receive these updates, you can update your preferences or unsubscribe from this list.

Super Cool Summer School

Larkspur Recreation’s Super Cool Summer School has just completed another well-attended summer full of interactive, scholastic, and fun classes. Co-directors Erin Duggan and Beth Suess and Recreation Supervisor Nick Stone are to be congratulated on their efforts in bringing another quality program to the children of Larkspur and the rest of Marin. The school had a total of 885 participants this year.

Recreation Director Dick Whitley is working with the Larkspur/Corte Madera School District to secure facilities which will allow next year’s summer school program to provide even more fun and education for our students. Stay tuned for more details!

AT&T Service Outages

While repairing a sewer lateral on Magnolia Avenue serving 2 Bon Air Road, crews for a private sewer contractor hit an unmarked phone utility, resulting in significant service cutoffs to phone lines in the area. AT&T crews will be working around the clock to make necessary repairs, and anticipate the work taking up to two weeks to complete. Traffic on northbound and southbound lanes on Magnolia approaching Bon Air will be impacted, although lane closures are not anticipated.

Maintenance Work

Throughout the summer, the Maintenance Division has concentrated its efforts on repairing irrigation, cleaning and trimming street medians, and clearing the tall grass and weeds in the drainage ditches and bike paths throughout Larkspur. Maintenance staff has completed the work to these areas for the remainder of the year.

Larkspur Library Presents: The Mountain Lion, What Can We Learn From This Apex Predator?

On Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 am, the Library will host a talk about how mountain lion sightings are becoming more common in the Bay Area.

Featured speaker Dr. Martins, lead researcher on the Mountain Lion Project and Wildlife Ecologist at Sonoma’s Bouverie Preserve, will discuss his research, what we are learning about the mountain lion and its habitat, and what it means to residents of the North Bay.
