City Manager Update

Library & Community Center Parcel Maintenance

Public Works staff will be performing routine maintenance activities at the site of the Library & Community Center Parcel (along Doherty Drive) in the coming weeks. Work is required to ensure drainage facilities are clean and free of obstructions and minor grading is required to level out some of the low/high areas to ensure the site drains properly.

CMPA Citizen Police Academy

The Central Marin Police Authority is launching its first ever Citizen Police Academy. The eight-week Academy is a great way to experience an inside look at local law enforcement and gain a better understanding of the Authority’s functions and operational procedures. In weekly presentations, participants are introduced to a wide variety of law enforcement topics. The Citizen Police Academy begins February 9th. CMPA is now accepting applications on its website here.

Food for Fines at the Library

From now through the end of December, we will be running our first “Food for Fines” program at the Larkspur Library. Patrons are invited to come and clear Library fines while providing for those in need. Patrons may bring in non-perishable food items into the Library and will have overdue fees waived. All food collected will be donated to the SF-Marin Food Bank.

North-South Greenway

The North-South Greenway, a project to connect non-motorized transportation between the Central Marin Ferry Connector (CMFC) and the existing multi-use paths at the intersection of Old Redwood Highway and Wornum Drive, is making progress. The Transportation Authority of Marin's (TAM) consultants have received Caltrans approval for the design of the north section of the North-South Greenway. This portion of the greenway starts at the base of the new Central Marin Ferry Connector on East Sir Francis Drake, then follows the freeway off-ramp south to Redwood Highway and ends at the 101 pedestrian overcrossing south of Rich Street. The concept design to date includes stamped concrete at mixing zones (where the path meets the street or other paths), drought tolerant, low maintenance landscaping (grasses and groundcover), and downcast lighting (in railing along the freeway off-ramp, shoe box type along Redwood and post top at mixing zones.) More information can be found at the project website here

Piper Park Playground Upgrades

The installers for the Piper Park upgrades started work in late November. Project completion is anticipated for late December. Park renovation details be found here

Topics covered during the meeting will include a primer on local coyote populations, strategies for deterring coyotes, navigating coyote encounters, and local agency responses to coyote interactions.
