Donations to help one our dear friends at Twogether Consulting
Please help our dear friend Kim Littlejohn. She has stage 4 cancer and still needs our help. Your donations are needed to help Kim with her expensive cancer medications and other medical expenses. Many of you may know Kim for her work with Austin Travis County Integral Care for many years or with AAIDD.  Kim also worked as an IDD consultant with Twogether Consulting over the years. We appreciate all the current donations, but we still have a ways to go to reach goal of $5000! Go Fund Me Page

A Note From Julie
There are so many new things happening: CIMS system, TMHP issues with Claims, Draft Rules: HCS/TxHmL TAC and Draft Rules: New ISS services rules, updates to the billing requirements, and much more.
Please let me know your thoughts and concerns about the New ISS services starting in March of 2023.  I believe providers interested can now apply for ISS provider licensure.  Please don't wait, get started now.   Don't forget to spread the word to Day Habilitation providers who are not in the know about upcoming move to ISS services.

I would also like to receive feedback on how the new CIMS system is working out for reporting critical incidents.  I have been thinking about doing a short 1.5 hr webinar about the must current information updates we have received in all of these areas-CIMS, ISS, and Draft Rules, so we can have discussion about problems and concerns providers have.  Please let me know if you would like us to set up something for about 2nd week in December.  You may contact us at: info@twogetherconsulting.com

RN Protocols & Good Practice For New Admissions (HCS/TxHmL)

Date: December 13, 2022
Time: 10:30-12:30 PM
Cost: $45.00

For:  RN’s in the HCS, TxHmL and ICF Program

Presenter:  Julie Blacklock/IDD Waiver Consultant & Stephanie Figueroa/ RN Consultant

This is an especially good training session for new nurses or new providers. We will also be providing some quality assurance tools and ideas for some nursing forms and checklists the facility might like to utilize if they don’t currently have certain nursing forms or tools in place for the issues we discuss during the webinar. We will be providing some guidance to the RN  about different considerations they may need to keep in mind when working with the IDD population. Some of our population is elderly, non-ambulatory, non-verbal and/or may have mental health diagnoses. In the HCS and TxHmL waiver programs, we also receive individuals who come from other types of programs, such as State Supported Living Centers, small to large private ICF’s, Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, State Hospitals, and kids who age out of CPS (Child Protective Services), so there are a lot of considerations when a new individual is admitted to the program.  We hope to teach you some of the pitfalls to avoid and helpful ideas so that you can have good continuity of care for your client and a smooth transition to their new home.

Presenter:  Julie Blacklock/IDD Waiver Consultant & Stephanie Figueroa/ RN Consultant

TMP's New Pharmacy Interface

Taskmaster Pro is happy to introduce another great solution into the TMP ecosystem, this time in the form of our Pharmacy Integration. This release will improve the relationship and close the gap between providers and their local pharmacies, creating a much more efficient process that will lead to:

Happier nursing and support staff.
More efficient EMAR process.
Reduction of medication errors.
Reduce non-billable activities and increase billable activities.
Shift nurse resources, energy, and time to client-focused outcome-driven activities.
Reduce nurse turnover.
Do more with less and enjoy it.

"With our Pharmacy Integration module, TMP is redefining how providers partner with their pharmacy. This enhanced relationship will streamline operations and lighten the load for your nurses and support staff, resulting in more time with those in your care and improved outcomes."

Larry Hill - Founder of Taskmaster Pro (TMP)

Success Stories - Meet Kenny

Since we utilize TMP in our provider organizations, we have been able to document the true TMP impact. In this example, we meet Kenny. When we first met with Kenny, he was 22 years old and had been fending for himself since the age of 7. He was slated to return to an institution until he entered our providership and TMP began to leverage data to provide Kenny with better care and service. Click HERE to read the full story.

“No one understands the operational challenges of running an IDD provider organization better than TMP. They are true partners and easy to work with.”

Sameer Bhargava - CSO at ViaQuest, Inc.

TMP Knows IDD Software!

TMP was created by IDD service providers, for IDD service providers. Our leadership has spent decades advocating for providers and for better policy. That experience has helped us create the best possible platform for providers to deliver better care, deal with the workforce crisis, and solve billing headaches.

The result, and our mission: better data, better outcomes, and better lives for the cared for and those caring for them.

5 Year-End Tax Essentials
Tip Image

Before 2022 comes to a close, take some time to review these essential items to ensure you are not missing something that could cause tax trouble when you file your tax return:

1. Take required minimum distributions (RMDs). If you are age 72 or older, you need to take RMDs from certain retirement accounts before Dec. 31st to avoid a 50% penalty! This includes most IRAs (except Roth IRAs) and 401(k)s. Your annual RMD is calculated by dividing the prior Dec. 31st balance by the life expectancy factor provided by IRS tables.

2. Watch for your Identity Protection PIN from the IRS. If you are a victim of tax-related identity theft, the IRS will mail you a one-time use identity protection personal identification number (IP PIN) as added security. The IRS mails IP PINs between mid-December and early January, so look for your IP PIN during this time period.

3. Contribute to retirement accounts. Making contributions to tax-advantaged retirement accounts like a traditional IRA or 401(k) is a great way to lower your tax liability, even if you don’t plan to itemize your deductions!

4. Harvest gains & losses. If you expect to have capital gains from your investments, selling stocks in a loss position to offset the gains will lower your tax liability. In fact, you can claim excess losses of up to $3,000 to decrease your ordinary income, such as wages from your job! Timing matters with investment sales and income taxes, so having a year-end strategy can help lower your tax bill.

5. Make last-minute tax moves. Here are a few ideas worth considering:

  • Donate to charity to maximize itemized deductions
  • Make a tax-efficient withdrawal from your retirement account if you are over age 59½
  • Take advantage of 2022's gift-giving limit of $16,000 per person ($32,000 if married)
  • If you own a small business, delay receipt of income from 2022 into 2023, or accelerate expenses from 2023 into 2022.

Understanding your current situation and having a plan will help maximize your year-end tax savings.

Support & Empowerment Program for Adults with IDD
We serve all of Texas for this program, not just Bexar County!

”Join us for our Support & Empowerment Program for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their caregivers. We provide free classes online and in-person (in-person classes currently on hold due to COVID-19) to the individuals we serve with IDD and their caregivers throughout the state of Texas! These classes focus on health, finances, stress, nutrition, and physical fitness. We encompass these topics to guide our individuals and caregivers to plan ahead and encourage them to develop healthier practices in their day-to-day lives.

Our goal is to provide assistance to aging individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities that are/aren’t involved with AACOG and establish community ties to develop a sense of belonging to the community in order to age in place. We assist participants up to one year after taking the classes in navigating the broad range of community resources we have collected through various agencies. Our aim is that with this program and the results from our follow-up visits, we will establish the necessity of programs like this to be provided to individuals with developmental disabilities and their caregivers to improve their overall health and quality of life.

This is a great program we recommend for staff, caregivers, and persons with an intellectual/developmental disability. We offer classes in the morning and evening during the week and morning classes during the weekend. Translation services are available upon request. During the course, we are also able to provide tablets through our tablet loan program.”  For more information please contact me (Diana Chavarria) at AACOG
