Welcome to my first ever fitness newsletter. I am now a coach to over 50 people, which may seem like a small number, but really, is overwhelming to me. With my milestone, I wanted to start something new. I will be distributing this newsletter, straight to your inbox, each month, hopefully around the same time.

Back to my earlier point. 50 people! WOAH! I can't believe that I'm helping to change the lives of that many people, just as a change to a healthy lifestyle has changed mine. I am so honored that each and every one of you reached out to me, looking for guidance, no matter how much or little you took. I'm so happy to be trusted the way you trusted me.

Back in July, I teamed up with lifelong friend and fellow coach Amanda to create a "Don't Sweat the Scale" challenge. What does that mean? Our team focused on NSVs (non-scale victories), instead of getting hung up by the scale and our measurements. And boy oh boy, did we have a lot of people sharing a lot of NSVs! Meal prepping, feeling better, making healthier choices, pushing play even when we didn't want to...the list goes on and on.

With the kickoff of this newsletter, I want to hear what you think! What do you want to see? Do you want to get more emails from me? Less? Different information! Let me hear it! I'm here to help you reach your goals.

Turkey Stuffed Peppers

21 Day Fix/Extreme Containers:
1 red, 1.5 green, 1 yellow, 1 blue

This was such a great recipe to try out! I will admit that eating it was not so easy. Even though it looks pretty, it's not very practical. I first treated the pepper like a bowl, and ate the filling from inside of it, but realized that I really wanted to try the pepper with the rest of the filling! So, I plopped the whole thing in a bowl, and then cut up the pepper, letting the filling spill out everywhere. After hacking up the pepper, I mixed it up, and chowed down. When I'm alone, it doesn't matter how pretty I look when I eat, just how good it tastes!

Shopping List
  • 4 bell peppers (color of your choice)
  • 1/2 pound 93% lean ground turkey
  • 1 can fire-roasted tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • Optional 1 cup quinoa (subtract yellow)
  • 2/3 cup low fat shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp tabasco (more or less to taste)

August Goal Setting

I think it's really important to set goals, and I do so on a monthly basis. It feels fresher, like you're starting over, or starting new!

Now that we're over half way through the year (yikes!), I think it's important to have a... 

resolution reassessment.

Most all of us set goals, or make resolutions, on January 1st. Maybe they were all related to living a healthier lifestyle, and maybe they weren't. In any case, think back to what they were. Was it to eat less junk food? Lose a certain amount of weight? Go to the gym? Read more? Be more present with your family? Whatever the resolutions were, I'm willing to bet they were fairly lofty.

It's been proven that having a smaller goal in mind increases your likelihood of attaining it. If we take the example of "go to the gym," we can break that down to attainable and (most importantly) measurable goals for ourselves going into August!

Now that you're with team Beachbody, you don't have to go to the gym, and you can spend that money on fun new workout gear, or even try a new program! Wahoo! But, let's talk about the goal for August, even as it relates to the resolution many make on January 1st, "I'm going to go to the gym this year."

This month's goal will be to exercise at least 5 of 7 days each week in the month of August. If you want to push yourself to all 7 of 7 days, go for it! Measure your goal by making yourself a calendar, and filling it in each day. Or, if it's more satisfying, fill in the calendar and put a big red X through each day you work out! At the end of the month, you'll be able to say that you did or did not achieve your goal, and then adjust your lifestyle to achieve it again!
