Week One: Destroying the Temple

Using The Gospel of John, examine “The Jews,” the problems they had with Jesus, and the problem Jesus had with them. Then, connect it to today, the problems we should have with religion, and what true religion looks like.

Scripture for the Week: John 2:12-22
Psalm for the Day: Psalm 72:1-7, 10-14

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK

Eternal Father, you gave to your incarnate Son the holy name of Jesus to be the sign of our salvation: Plant in every heart, we pray, the love of him who is the Savior of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE

MWSU Food Drive
The MWSU Campus has a food pantry to help students in need be able to eat. Many times just paying tuition and rent uses up most of their income. There are times when the cafeteria is not open and a student cannot afford to eat out. Your donation of any of the following items will support students in their education and help the graduate with less debt: canned meats (tuna and salmon), crackers, peanut butter, canned ravioli, tuna helper, evaporated milk, canned fruit, pre-made jello/pudding/etc., cereal/oatmeal, pasta/sauce, shampoo/conditioner, bar soap, deodorant, body wash, razors, diapers, baby food.

New Vine Campus Ministry
New Vine meets weekly at 7pm on the MWSU Campus, Murphy building, room 109. We are always looking for volunteers. Contact Tom Keller if interested.

Help With Missouri Flood Relief
Over the next couple of weeks, we are collecting funds and supplies for Cleanup Buckets to help people in Missouri. Buckets and their contents are valued at $65 each. For a list of supplies to donate go to the UMCOR website or pickup a supply list at church.

January 2016

THEY said you can’t heal on the Sabbath.

THEY said you can’t be the Son of God.

THEY said you can’t forgive sins.

Who are they anyway?

Losing Religion. Finding Faith.

EVENTS

2/7 Football Sunday
Invite your co-workers, friends, and neighbors to church to experience Football Sunday on February 7, 2016. This exciting presentation about the move of God in the lives of professional football players gives us a great opportunity to discuss Jesus in a way that's relevant to our culture today. Even casual football fans celebrate football's biggest game; let's use the championship game day to show the unchurched what life in Christ can be like.
