Do You Love The Earth?
When my good friend, Danna Takako approached me last year about a permaculture event, I had no idea what we could build. And when we found out about Ron Finley's (South Central LA Urban Renegade Gardener) fight against the big bad bank in his neighborhood, to buy his property and garden, we knew our vision was the perfect platform to support Ron! And it's all happening this Saturday!
Highlights for me personally, include the two conversations I'll be moderating, one on Urban Gardening (with Austin Young, co-founder of Fallen Fruit, artist and earth healer/warrior/facilitator Jane Tsong, Loretta Allison of Fig Earth Supply, and Ron), and the other on Late Capitalism and Wellness (that will include Nai Vasha of Undo-Ordinary, author Kamea Chayne, Water Protector and cancer survivor Jen Byers, and more), inspired by this article: http://thebaffler.com/war-of-nerves/laurie-penny-self-care
I'm also thrilled to have art by Alli Miller, videos from Freewaves, and a performance by the astounding Edgar Fábien Frías! Y'all... Electric Sound Bath will be bathing us in their beautiful waves from 2-6!
And the MUSIC! Curated by Def Sound- if the sound baths, yoga, food workshops, talks, and wellness don't heal you, the music DEFINITELY will.
I'm so lucky to be a part of a community that is seeking both utopian and realistic approaches to healing ourselves and the Earth, while exploring ways to manifest smashing the Capitalist cis-hetero ableist patriarchal state... one sound bowl and shovel at a time.
I'd love to see you Saturday at Moonwater Farm- a micro farm in Compton! WITH GOATS! GOATS THO!
