Dear Friend of LEIMAY,

Were you looking forward to OUTSIGHT this fall? Us too!

As the pandemic changed many things for live arts, our LEIMAY Arts in the Community Garden Commisioned Fellows Program had to make some changes too. We hope to be back in action with exciting live performances in NYRP's beautiful community gardens next year.  In the meantime, our Garden Fellows continue their processes for an eventual outdoor season, as well as advance their other artistic projects.

Here are some donation based offerings from our Garden Fellows to you!

Crossing the Garden With the Eyes Closed

A pre-recorded dance performance juxtaposed with curated haikus, and a live Q&A. This evening is a split bill with Teresa Fellion.

"The sounds of the city mixture with the sounds of the birds and wind. It was a silence within the noise. I remember walking up a mountain. I remember being far from home under the rain. In a mixture of memories and dreams about gardens and wildness, emerges a dance in a small studio apartment. I read haikus, and through its words, I see and can move. . .an attempt to invoke gardens within walls, within my body and my voice."

Healing Currently Downloading

A pre-recorded work-in-progress viewing of Teresa Fellion with a live Q&A with the artist. This evening is a split bill with Cora Laszlo.

"I will share a new work in progress with its roots in the foundational work reeling→healing, which investigates the frustration and helplessness occurring as a result of misled policies and hatred infecting our country today. This work, Healing Currently Downloading, will act as a brand new sequel or second chapter to reeling. While reeling sought to capture the frustration and raw emotion of today’s world, this piece yearns for a resolution to these emotions through purposeful motion and emotion."

Untitled Dance Film

A new screendance in progress.

"Modern dance, cottagecore, wellness, fitness, soccer moms, keepers of the hearth, protectors of the home...our new screendance-in-progress examines the stories we are told about our white, female bodies, and asks how these scripts can be exposed, satirized, unlearned, and interrupted."
