Egyptians sacrificially give to build a church

People in the city of Maghaghah, Egypt have been selling their gold ankle and wrist bracelets to help pay for the building of their AG church. (It's the only AG church in that city). Some have also given ALL of their life savings to finish the church. A friend recently told an AG missionary that his parents literally gave the last of their life savings so the church could be finished!  What needs to be understood about the culture in Egypt is that gold and other forms of expensive jewelry are one way people save for when they can no longer work. Many do not have large saving accounts or even a retirement account of any kind. They wear their "retirement" on their bodies in the form of  jewelry and other material items bought over the course of their lives. When these assets are spent, they rely on their families to help support them. This is a communal culture. They share. They share their food. They share their material items. They share their money when it can help the greater community - in this way, their church.

This story of sacrifice happens frequently throughout Egypt on these new church plants. They are also deeply moved that people in America give so generously to help them. For them this is a miracle.  People they never met, giving so that they might have a church.

Pen Florida Youth Speed the Light Project

Imagine trying to open a new church without a sound system!

This years Speed the Light project will be raising money to purchase sound systems for the new Egyptian churches.

We are excited that the PF Youth are partnering on this project to bless the churches of Egypt and make it possible that when the churches open their doors for worship, that the message will be heard clearly!

A Challenge from Dr. Tom Manning

I encourage every pastor to challenge their church to sacrificial giving on Easter Sunday. It has been a difficult year with COVID, but the world, including Egypt, has suffered as much if not more than the United States. Please challenge your congregation to come alongside these Egyptian pastors and their congregations in making these church plants and buildings a reality.
