We're on the go.

Life never slows down, does it? I think many parents would agree that we are constantly busy with things from work, to home, to church, to school, you name it. This past summer has been a whirlwind.
Just before London arrived in May, my boss, who oversees all US Ministries, asked me to pray about helping the US Field move forward by changing some of my job duties to help equip leaders across the state and nation to reach and disciple children. As your Awana Missionaries, we go out and equip and encourage local church leaders with the tools and confidence to share the gospel and engage children in lifelong discipleship. Along with that, the past two years we have been US Field Directors, where we oversaw 9 other missionaries in their ministries, to help lead them in better serving and equipping their churches and communities through Awana. Now, we are no longer serving as Field Directors, but have taken on the role as Innovative Directors for Awana. What does that entail?
As Innovative Directors, we are responsible for taking the message of Awana even further. We are going to be traveling out of state a little more to equip pastors and church leaders with the message of making RESILIENT child disciples. Children whose faith won't waver when they are attacked or ridiculed for being Christian. Children who will have the heart to share Christ's love with the lost and with the spine to stand firm in their beliefs.

What does it look like to disciple the next generation?

What does it look like to disciple the next generation, especially in the digital age?

As you probably read above, we are serving as Innovative Directors for Awana where we will be taking this new conversation around the country to unite the Church around true, lasting child discipleship. Awana's new book, RESILIENT: Child Discipleship and the Fearless Future of the Church, will focus on helping the church rally around the call to disciple children today because they will be the future leaders of the church in the year 2050. It will look at the critical questions of how are we doing in building future leaders of the church.

Along with the RESILIENT message, Awana is also working on a digital child discipleship solution for churches. Now, not to be confusing, but this is not a replacement for Awana Club, but is geared to your Sunday Morning children's ministry. Awana Clubs will always be here to reach and disciple children. What we are working on is a new way to help local churches who may or may not have Awana to disciple the children in their church.
If you are interested in being a part of the field test, follow this link to sign up. Be on the lookout for more information in the months ahead. The book will launch in February 2020 and the curriculum in the fall of 2020.

Prayer Requests

Be in prayer for our Customer Care team at Awana and our Distribution Center - Pitney Bowes. Last winter, Awana shifted their distribution from "in-house" to a logistics provider, Pitney Bowes. Awana gave our new partners all the information on seasonal ordering and forecastings, but unfortunately, there have been some major hiccups in processing. If you or your church are experiencing this pain, we want to apologize and let you know that orders are being fulfilled as quickly as they can and are starting to speed up. If you haven't received your orders, follow this link to download the first four weeks of lessons from each book. If you have any questions, please reach out!

Traveling much?

We will be traveling more in the months ahead. Please pray for safety and for our events as we look to reach more kids! Next week, Tyler will be in Chicago gathering more information for the Innovation Team. In October, Tyler will be in Chicago twice to meet with the HQ team to help in the new child discipleship tools. In November, Tyler will be in South Texas twice to train Latino church leaders to use Awana in their churches and communities. This is a great opportunity to expand the reach of Awana within Spanish speaking churches in Texas and across the US. Also in November, Tyle & Katie will be in Northern California for an Awana Missionary Conference. In January, Tyler & Katie will be in Florida for a children's ministry conference and introduce the Resilient book and new digital curriculum for the very first time. In February, we will begin our training and equipping events for local churches in the new Resilient message and different ways to disciple children through Awana Clubs and the new digital curriculum.
Do pray for our travels both around Kansas and across the US. Each week, Tyler is also taking time to go across the state to meet with local pastors and leaders to encourage them and help them reach even more children! We currently have 4 brand new Awana Clubs in Kansas and are praying that they will continue to start well and be able to reach and disciple the children in their church and community.

Family News

We know you scrolled to the bottom of the email just to hear about what's going on in our family! Well, we have two sweet girls in Awana this year! Lucy is in her 2nd year of Cubbies and Laney is in Puggles! They were both sick this past week (the first time to have 2 sick at the SAME time) but are now feeling better and back to their normal selves.

Family News cont...

Katie and London are doing great! We call London our Smushy because she is our biggest baby and has rolls galore! And for Tyler - I'm doing great, too. Our equipping season is winding down and we are getting into the rhythm and flow of another Awana year!
We thank you SO much for your prayers and support. We couldn't do this ministry without you!
Have a blessed week!
