Beach to Bay Annual Luncheon Features Acclaimed Harriet Tubman Biographer

The Beach to Bay Heritage Area Annual Luncheon will be held on Thursday, October 28 at the Henson Center on the Campus of UMES from 11:30am to 1pm. Our featured speaker is widely acclaimed author, Kate Clifford Larson. She’ll be discussing her book, Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of an American Hero.  The event is open to all. 

Dr. Larson is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of four critically acclaimed biographies: Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of an American Hero; Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter; The Assassin's Accomplice: Mary Surratt and the Plot to Kill Abraham Lincoln; and Walk With Me: A Biography of Fannie Lou Hamer.

She has consulted on film scripts (most recently the Harriet movie starring Cynthia Erivo), documentaries, museum exhibits, animation and augmented reality productions, numerous publications, and public history initiatives, including Maryland’s Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State and National Historical Park, the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway and All-American Road on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and the Harriet Tubman Home in Auburn, New York.

Dr. Larson is frequently interviewed by local, national and international radio programs and media outlets and has appeared on national and international television broadcasts including BBC, PBS, and C-SPAN, cable networks, and CBS Sunday Morning
