General Membership Meeting
Monday, March 27th, 6p.m. at ERAC Boardroom

Due to the weather, we had to cancel our February General Membership Meeting. So please join us for our General Membership Meeting on Monday, March 27th, 6:00 p.m. in the ERAC Boardroom at the Highline School District Headquarters, 15675 Ambaum Blvd. SW in Burien. We will be holding an Ideas Roundtable, so come, share your ideas for fundraising and programs, membership and community engagement, or whatever ideas you have had for your PTA and take home a few ideas to share!

There are a number of PTA's that have not attended a single Council meeting this year. This is MANDATORY to attend. Please send one representative from your board to our Council General Membership meeting.

Softball

Girl's softball is about to begin.

Do you have coaches? Have you sent out a sign up flyer? Did you create packets containing the parent consent forms and health information?

Have you paid for insurance?

It is $120 per team this year. This includes the premium and a small administration fee.

Please make checks payable to Highline Council PTSA. They can be mailed to PO Box 66539 Burien,WA 98166

You will receive your certificate by email once your payment has been processed.

Our rules with the district do not allow us to use the fields without it.  Please make this a priority.

I am working with the district to have our schedule approved, this may take some time.

I am currently asking for practices to begin Monday March 20th. Practice will be on Mondays and Wednesdays (unless otherwise requested) until games begin.

Games will begin Wednesday April 19th for 5th/6th grade and Thursday April 20th for 3rd/4th grade. Each grade division has 4 teams and will cycle through home and away games until May 24th and 25th.

We are a slow-pitch league and I urge you to follow the rules and guidelines accordingly.

I will send a game schedule as soon as it is finalized! I look forward to a great season.

Thank you for all you are doing on behalf of PTA,

Kitty Richmire, Vice-President & Softball Chair

From Your President

We have heard from some of you about concerns regarding the lockbox policy from Highline Schools for PTA's. Secondary schools have had this policy in place for the past year, but it is new for elementary schools. You should have received a contract that releases liability from the school. PTA's may have a lockbox on the floor in the office, and the lockbox must be emptied on a regular basis (at least once a week). The contract must have two signatures as required by Washington State PTA bylaws.

I spoke personally with Pattie Leverenz, the ASB/General Fund Coordinator in Accounting. She has stated that yes, PTA's can receive funds at school, and they can have them in the lockbox as long as it is cleared out on a regular basis--exactly what the contract states. If you have any questions about the policy, you can email her directly at patt.leverenz@highlineschools.org

We thank you for reaching out to us when you have had questions or concerns, we appreciate it!

Finally, apologies to those of you who braved the strange weather on Monday evening only to find we had canceled our General Membership meeting! We made the decision based on the changing weather pattern and, if you may recall, I-5 being shut down for several hours due to the tanker accident, knowing that many PTA members were stuck in horrible traffic. We apologize for the late notice, but felt it was best given the uncertain road conditions.
