NEW WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK PAGE!
We unveiled our new Website last month at http://highlinecouncilptsa.org, but be sure to check back as we keep updating resources to help support your local PTA! We also hope to add more leaders to our board, so if you are interested in being our Legislative Chair or another position, please contact us at email@example.com to learn more.
The PTA year closes on June 30th. June is a good time to schedule a transition meeting for your board, with your 2015-2016 board members and your 2016-2017 board. Share information, pass on your committee notebooks, and prepare for the next year! You should also schedule your yearly financial review for July or August, depending on how long it takes for your bank statements to arrive. Remember, you need three non-signers on your bank account to conduct the financial review. The Treasurer should not be present, but be available by phone to answer any questions. The Financial Review checklist is available under Leadership Resources on the Washington State PTA Website.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns about your PTA, your school, or anything having to do with Highline or PTA, please do not hestiate to contact any of us. Our names and contact information for this year's board are at the beginning of this newsletter, along with Tania Skinner, our Region 9 Chair.
Thanks to Aimee Lloyd, there is a Facebook Group for Highline PTSA Boards! Click here to request to join. This is a great place for you to connect with other Highline PTSA's and to ask your questions!
AUGUST BOARD PIZZA NIGHT
Yes, that's right--we are looking to schedule a Pizza Night with our Superintendent for all Highline PTSA Board Members and our School Principals. If you need to bring your kiddos, that's fine, and we'll order the pizza! We will send out more details when we have the date scheduled.

Washington State PTA Convention
Convention is over! What a terrific weekend in Yakima! Highline was represented by delegates and visitors from Gregory Heights PTSA, Highline Council PTSA, Highline Special Needs PTA, Hilltop Elementary PTA, and Parkside Elementary PTSA.
Next year, the Washington State PTA Convention will take place April 28-30 at the Hilton in SeaTac! MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Wouldn't it be fantastic to have 100% participation from Highline? If your PTA did not budget for Council next year, have your board consider amending (with a vote from your membership, of course) to add a line item for State Convention (this past year registration was $50 per day or $140 for the three-day weekend).
YOU CAN ALSO VOLUNTEER! You can register for free as a volunteer, in exchange for a three-hour volunteer block. Anyone can volunteer, so if your PTA's budget is tight, this is the perfect way to have representation at the State Convention! Put the dates in your calendar and plan on attending next year!
Congratulations to Duncan Taylor from Parkside, now the Washington State PTA Legislative Director! And congratulations to the Highline Special Needs PTA for achieving the Gold level of the FACE Award of Excellence for their Special Needs Resource Fair! Your own Highline Council PTSA took home bronze for this newsletter! Congratulations all! Highline is well represented at State!
