Member Request:

Hi everyone,
HELP’s Child and Family Team is currently working with a number of pre-pubescent children who were exposed to pornography during sexual abuse and who now regularly watch pornography  in secret.

We would be really interested in talking with others with experience in this area of work, so please contact me if that is you, or could you send through contacts for anyone you know in the community who has this experience.

Thanks
Kathryn McPhillips

NZFVC UPDATE

ANROWS UPDATE

Public submissions are now being invited on the Child Protection (Child Sex Offender Register) Bill

The closing date for submissions is next Wednesday, 28 October 2015.

This bill establishes a Child Sex Offender Register that aims to reduce sexual re-offending against child victims, and the risk posed by serious child sex offenders by providing government agencies with the information needed to monitor child sex offenders in the community and providing up-to-date information that assists the Police to more rapidly resolve cases of child sex offending.

The Select Committee is due to report back to Parliament on 15 March 2016. The Bill comes into force on 1 July 2016 (Clause 2).

Gain skills to assist young people whose sexual understandings have been distorted by pornography

This Auckland workshop is suitable for teachers, youth workers, nurses, psychologists and others involved in education, health promotion, violence prevention, support or counselling with young people, or in policy development in related areas. The training will assist participants to develop their understanding of pornography and its influence, and the frameworks and confidence to address the issues with young people.
