CALL TO ACTION!
THIS BILL ONLY AFFECTS SBDMs IN JEFFERSON COUNTY!
Senate Bill 250, sponsored by Senator Julie Raque Adams, contains the provision that takes principal selection power away from the school-based decision making council. The careful wording of this bill means it would only affect schools in Louisville (thus the nickname “the Marty Pollio bill,” after JCPS's superintendent). The local chamber of commerce is supporting this bill, and in fact some of the language about this bill from the chamber’s web site was used verbatim in testimony before the Senate. SB 250 has passed the Senate and is headed to the Local Government Committee in the House today at noon. Please help us stop this provision from passing with this legislation!
ANOTHER SBDM POWERGRAB ATTEMPT ON THURSDAY!
In addition, HB166, sponsored by the House Education Chair herself, Regina Huff, started out as a “Day of Prayer” bill. It passed the House easily and has been assigned to the Veterans, Military Affairs, & Public Protection committee in the Senate for a potential committee vote on Thursday. Last week, the Senate added an amendment to – you guessed it – give the superintendent power to override the decisions of the local school council!
Read more about why SBDMs came about in the first place, why removing this power is bad here.
Please call 800-372-7181 encouraging them not to remove principal selection power from parents and teachers!

All Legislators - OPPOSE SCHOLARSHIP TAX CREDITS - Watch Out for HB354!!
That's right! We are hearing threats of another "Sewer Bill" Styled maneuver happening in Frankfort!! The scholarship tax credit "discussion" took place in committee today. However, it appears some legislators are secretly trying to put the contents of House Bill 205 into House Bill 354, a bill which has already passed both chambers. They are having another conference committee meeting after the House gavels out this afternoon. Talks of more "sickouts" in JCPS have been brewing as each day passes and more questionable moves are made. Please join our "closed" group on Facebook to stay informed of any actions, times/dates, and meeting locations.
