Be Courageous

Never be afraid of anything. A person with fear dies every minute. Remember that and be courageous. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.”  Sri Swami Satchidananda

What it Means to Truly Love
By Swami Satchidananda

When you love something, you keep it somewhere special, so that it stays beautiful and so that you can admire it. You won’t just throw it here and there. So, if you love yourself, you will never allow yourself to be thrown here and there either. That’s what happens when you identify with something that you are not. In other words, don’t identify with the body or the mind. Instead, remember that you have a body and a mind, but you are the ever peaceful, unchanging Self.  MORE

Compassion During Crisis
Shannon Gannon

...Many years ago, I was invited to come for a few days to teach Yoga to a Buddhist teacher who was in the midst of a three-year retreat in the Arizona desert, where every six months he would give public teachings. I met many people there who had come to listen to his teachings.... When they encountered me they would say somewhat apologetically, “I love Yoga, but feel I need a spiritual practice to help me cope with the real issues of life.” It surprised me to hear that these people felt that Yoga was not a spiritual practice applicable to daily struggle and challenges.  MORE

Experience Your Feminine Nature
By Nischala Joy Devi

The feminine nature of a woman’s body and her emotional makeup have unique qualities that need special attention. The asanas were designed for the needs of the male body...  MORE  (Nischala Devi & Rukmini Ando will teach an online program on this topic in July.

Tonglen practice, also known as “taking and sending,” reverses our usual logic of avoiding suffering and seeking pleasure. We visualize taking in the pain of others with every in-breath and sending out whatever will benefit them on the out-breath. In the process, we become liberated from age-old patterns of selfishness. We begin to feel love for both ourselves and others; we begin to take care of ourselves and others. It introduces us to the unlimited spaciousness of shunyata (emptiness).  MORE

Rev. Siva Moore announced that Yogaville won't re-open until September: "We have not seen the drop in COVID-19 cases and the progress in stopping the pandemic that is necessary for us to reopen the Ashram at this time. By closing until September 8, we will have time to receive more information and continue to evaluate how the Ashram could yet reopen this year. The safety of our staff members, residents and guests will always remain our priority. In August, we will re-evaluate our ability to reopen during 2020." Yogaville continues to offer programs online in the interim.
