You Are Not the Body or Mind
You are not your body or mind because you are the one observing them. Your mind and body continue to go through changes, but knowing doesn’t change. The peaceful nature of the Knower, or Self, is never affected. Only when you forget and identify yourself with the body or mind do the clouds come and block your view of the sun—the true Self.

Everything Can Be Karma Yoga
By Sri Swami Satchidananda
Whatever is due to you will come and nobody can stop that or cheat you. If ever anybody does seem to cheat you, know that it is an after effect of what you have done to someone at some time in the past. You must have cheated somebody earlier, so now another person is cheating you. This is what is known as karmic philosophy. If you had never ever cheated anyone, then no one would cheat you; they won’t even have any idea of cheating you.  MORE

The Dalai Lama: A Message of Love & Inner Peace
Last week, His Holiness the Dalai Lama stressed how all the religions share the value of universal love. He also noted: "The destroyer of peace of mind is not an external enemy but our own internal anger. The antidote for anger is compassion." He gave this talk from his residence in Dharamsala. This program on "Buddhism, Science and Compassion" was organized by the Einstein Forum (Germany). His talk was followed by a question and answer session.

Thanksgiving 2020 may have just come and gone, yet these beautiful blessings expressing gratitude—from various wisdom traditions and luminaries—can enrich, and become a part of, our daily lives. I’ve been thinking a lot about 2020 and what a tumultuous year it has been. I’m not of the mindset that once we reach 2021 things will magically change, but I am hopeful for a brighter future for all of us. COVID-19 forced us to go online and to become more sensitive to the way we connect and create community even when we’re at a distance. We got to implement so many of the lessons that the disability community has been teaching us for years.  MORE

The Journey to Your True Calling
By Bob Weisenberg

Fifteen years ago, I was happily retired, largely unacquainted with Yoga, when I happened upon a book by Stephen Cope called Yoga and the Quest for the True Self. I knew right away that my life would never be the same. The book instantly and utterly transformed me. The philosophy was that powerful and the writing that personal and engaging. I started reading every book on Yoga philosophy I could get my hands on. I started trying to describe what was happening inside of me..MORE

Mataji lights the candle during the Thanksgiving Worship Service. Swami Jyotirmayananda offered a welcome and foods to the Divine Light, as music for each faith was played. A prayer on gratitude for each faith was offered by one of Yogaville’s swamis. Local sangha members were invited to send in notes of what they were grateful for and these were read by Mataji, followed by the swamis each expressing their gratitude. The service ended with the offering of an arati by Swami Arivananda.
