I'm back and I'm a little different, but mostly the same.

Hey <<First Name>>,

Hello to you and your inbox, it's been a while.

If you're a former Freelance Friday reader, Creative Pursuits is going to be basically the same thing, but less frequent. I'll be sending you an email once a month(ish) instead of every week.

Expect more bang for your buck in that monthly email: more delish recipes I found, more weird mid-century modern design stuff, interesting house tours, and the odd deep dive on something I'm weirdly obsessed with. AND, the same good ol' podcast, books, and TV recs.

I'm stoked about this new format because it gives me more time to truly curate this newsletter and make it WAY better. Also, if you have some curious and creative pals who would like in on this, get them to subscribe here.

Recommended reading this month:

🙄"I did a thing" is the worst kind of humblebrag. We should all just brag about things we're proud of ourselves for!

🐔Have you heard of "engagement chicken"? This is such a bizarre concept, I am intrigued.

😍A home office tour from fellow Nova Scotian, Kate Inglis. What a dreamy space!

📎I like to overcomplicate things. The paperclip strategy is a way to simplify good-habit-making.

🏢A teeny-tiny studio apartment that somehow looks 10x bigger with dark walls? Sorcery.

✏️Important things that are probably not in your job description but maybe should be?

🇨🇦So excited for this documentary on Canadian design

😬How Facebook plans to swallow the internet. Yikes.

😎Why doing nothing on vacation is severely underrated. When Ryan and I backpacked through Europe we had a few nights of staying in and watching The Newsroom and even though that show wasn't that great, it still brings up such fond memories for me.

Recommended Listening & Watching:

The Habitat is my latest podcast obsession. It's about 6 strangers who have to live together in a "life on Mars" simulation.

I've also started listening to Nobody Cares by Anne T. Donahue and it's VERY fun.

If you read all the way to the end:

I fell into a rabbit hole recently reading the This Victorian Life blog about a couple who lives and dresses as if they're in the Victorian era EVERY. DANG. DAY. They made the media rounds a few years ago for being super problematic (like, who wants to go back to the Victorian era and romanticize bubonic plague?), but I must have missed it. Now I'm captivated.

xoxo,
