A New Day in Washington, D.C.
Today is a historic day for Wisconsin and for our country. One of our own, Paul D. Ryan, was elected as the speaker of the House of Representatives. He is the first speaker from Wisconsin and is now the highest-serving Wisconsinite to ever hold public office. He is a man of high character and has his priorities in the right order. When he came out and said he would not sacrifice his family on the altar of politics, he confirmed he is the right person for the position. This country needs more leaders who model, through their actions and not just words, positive principles that will strengthen us as a nation.

This week is Canada Week in Wisconsin. To honor our friendship with our northern neighbors, the Legislature presented a citation to Consul General Roy Norton when he visited the Capitol on Tuesday.
It was an honor to meet Mr. Norton, who serves as Canada's consul general to Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, and northwest Indiana. To learn more about what he does here in the United States, go to Can-Am.gc.ca.
