It is already March, but since this is the first edition of the CYNESA E-newsletter for the year 2018, let me wish you a Happy and blessed 2018!
In many ways, we have already “hit the ground running”. I had the opportunity to spend time with our team in Tanzania, joining them in various activities, including a mission to the Archdiocese of Songea. It was a wonderful experience to see first-hand how our network continues to expand and grow in this region, and how eager the young people of Songea are to take up their role in caring for creation.
World Wildlife Day offers yet another opportunity for us to learn more about one key element of creation – biodiversity – with a special focus on Big Cats: predators under threat (lions, leopards, tigers, cheetahs, jaguars, snow leopard and puma), which is the theme for 2018.
Africa Environment/Wangari Maathai Day is also celebrated on March 3rd. For young people in Africa, this is certainly an occasion to rededicate ourselves to take action to help solve the pressing environmental issues on the continent. As Prof. Wangari Maathai challenged us, ““It's the little things citizens do that will make a difference. My little thing is planting trees”. What is your little thing?
