Orange Fizz

Feeding the troops

Hi there

This month we are coming to the rescue of all who have to cater for young people with voracious appetites without breaking the bank!

It has also given us the opportunity to bake some delicious treats.

We kept the menu simple and preparation to the minimum. It is a good idea to involve the partygoers in some of the preparation and serving.

Provide liquid refreshment with the Orange Fizz pictured above. You may want to double the recipe depending on numbers.

Ready to Go

Chilli_dogs

Chilli Dogs

Chilli Dogs are always in demand. Prepare the chilli mince filling in advance as the flavour improves with standing.

Cheese Subs

Cheese Subs

Cheese Subs cater for the non-meat eaters, but are equally popular with the hungry hordes! The combination of caramelised onion, mature cheddar and Cheese Sauce is a winner!

Butternut Tabbouleh

Butternut Tabbouleh

The Butternut Tabbouleh is a filling salad that does not look like a salad. It will tempt even the green leaf dodgers and be applauded by the healthy eaters.

Malted Brownies

Malted Brownies

These Malted Brownies are one of my absolute favourite party treats. Coated with a double layer of chocolate and topped with malted chocolate balls, they are hard to resist.

Chocolate chip cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Bake a batch of our Chocolate Chip Cookies and serve them with a communal dipping bowl of Chocolate Mousse! Try our unique method of pressing out the cookies between two pieces of baking paper.

Our Vanilla Cake can be varied to bake the most delicious moist Buttermilk Cake. Simply enhance the cake with a plain Lemon Water Icing. I feel so passionately about this cake that we shot a 1 minute video to inspire you to try this classic basic variation with a traditional South African buttermilk flavour.

Good for You - Broccoli

Weekends are ok to indulge a little in sweet treats, but weekdays are for sensible healthy eating.

Broccoli

Broccoli is classed as one of the superfoods. It's high in vitamins K, B6 and C; fibre; folate; potassium; and countless other nutrients. Is there anything broccoli can't do?

What is the best way to cook broccoli? Definitely not boiling. Steaming or microwaving retains most nutrients, especially the Vitamin C and beta carotene.

How can I choose the best? Look at the colour. The darker florets, whether purple, green or deep blue-green, are the most nutrient rich.

What is the tastiest way to prepare broccoli? Steam until tender, season with our Vegetable Spice, a little olive oil and finally lightly coat it with our Ready to Serve Cheese Sauce.

Bella

The warmer weather is certainly welcome. Our lovely lady dog Bella had a hip tendon repaired two years ago and she now suffers from arthritis pain during the cold winter months.

LAST WORD

What can I say to bring a smile to your lips? If the teenage party gets out of hand console yourself with this quote: “Youth is wasted on the young!”

Ina Paarman

I warned you in the beginning that we indulged in a baking spree! Junior Chefs can try their hands at Funfetti Cookies- lots of fun mixing and making as well as a treat to eat.

Enjoy our recipes this month!
Good Cooking and best regards.
