Cosy Fireside Feast

Hi there

Add to the charm of winter fire cooking with a delicious, deeply meat flavoured potjie, which can be half-prepared in advance and finally finished off on the day.

This recipe like most stews, curries and soups will develop and improve on standing. My best tip is to top the finished potjie with a good sprinkling of fresh garlic and lemon gremolata. Serve with polenta or samp and a salad.

Carrot Cake in Two Ways: variations on a theme. Bake the Carrot Cake in a loaf pan or make dainty cupcakes out of the mixture. We have added extra fresh grated carrot to make the cake even more ‘carroty’ and moist. The nuts are optional.

Home Baked Potato Bread: Have you ever tried to bake bread with added potato or sweet potato? It is well worth it because not only is the flavour sweet and mild, but the texture is fine and the bread keeps fresh for 3 days. 

Smoked Beetroot and Yoghurt Salad: Copied straight from the deli counter at Harrods in London! A delicious fuss-free salad, ideal for a camping trip or casual braai at home.
