Teaching our middle school students strategies for wellness and mental health is key to their success.
With that in mind, we've invited facilitators from Minding Your Mind to facilitate a 1-hour presentation for our Investigators (5th/6th) and Navigators (7th/8th)on Wednesday.
Below is a description of their program:
At Minding Your Mind, we create experiences that open minds and show people they are not alone when they are struggling. Our group of young adult speakers, who have successfully and productively coped with their mental health challenges, share their stories of hope, recovery, and resilience.
We use the power of storytelling to provide evidence-based education about mental health challengesin schools, communities, and workplaces. We encourage youth to seek help, and we ensure that those around them are effectively prepared to provide that help.
These are stories and experiences with the power to inspire others to take action to help themselves, their peers, and others.
Due to indoor gathering space constraints on our campus, we will host the presentation at the Kingston Free Library, just minutes down the road from Compass. We reserved a bus for this 2 mile "trip". It's not so much a field trip as it is an extension of our campus; we're grateful to the library for regularly opening their doors to The Compass School.
