Updates on recruitment and trial related matters

Thank you for your continuing support of the RESCUE-ASDH Trial!

As of today...

  • 77 patients have been randomised from 18 UK sites 
  • 74 patients have been enrolled in the observational study cohort
  • 21 centres –each with a trainee co-PI- are now open to recruitment in the UK and 2 more in set up. 
  • In order to meet our monthly recruitment target for January we still require 9 more patients to be randomised by the end of the month - please keep screening all patients with ASDH for eligibility!

We are also currently working on rolling out the RESCUE-ASDH Trial to several US and Asian level I trauma centres. A warm welcome to Chris Madden (PI) and Vin Shen Ban (Co-PI) and their team at Dallas who will soon open the first international RESCUE-ASDH Site! For for more details on recruitment please scroll down to the "Recruitment Details"-section.

Congratulations to Chris Uff (PI), Jarnail Bal (Co-PI) and their team at the Royal London Hospital for being the top recruiters in December and January! RLH is currently the Nr. 2 recruiter in the trial.
Congratulations to Damian Holliman (PI), Jon Pesic-Smith & Chris Cowie (Co-PIs) and their team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary for enrolling their first participant!

1st RESCUE-ASDH Investigators Meeting


Dear Colleagues

We cordially invite you to the RESCUE-ASDH and DEX-CSDH Investigators Meeting at Hilton Cambridge City Centre, Cambridge, to be held on the morning of 17th March 2016 prior to the annual BNRG meeting (starting at 13:00 on the 17th of March 2016, same venue). 

We would like to welcome you to join us at the first investigators meeting of the trials where we will be able to discuss the results of the pilot data, followed by lunch at the Hilton Cambridge City Centre.

Financial information:

  • This invitation extends to 2 study participants per site (more study participants to be discussed) 
  • UK travel costs for standard rail fare, mileage or accommodation up to a maximum of £125 per person (overseas to be discussed)

We ask that you arrange your own travel and transfers. A travel reimbursement form will be available for completion at the meeting. Please ensure you retain all ‘original’ receipts, copies cannot be accepted.

New Data Manager joining  the RESCUE-ASDH Team

"I would like to introduce myself as the new Data Manager at the Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit for the RESCUE-ASDH study.

To not miss any eligible participant from being randomised, there are 3 different ways of randomisation in this trial:
  • For web based randomisation:   www.rescueasdh.org (enter username & password)
  • For phone based randomisation:  0800 2802 307 (enter site ID code)
  • Any questions about randomisation including patient eligibility, please contact our team: 01223 746452 (24/7)

  • We only have 2 months left of the pilot phase in which we need to reach the target of 120 randomised patients.
  • Randomised: 77 patients
  • Observational cohort: 74 patients
