The next meeting of the Ancient Coin Club of Los Angeles will take place Sunday January 8, 2017 in the Community Room at the Sherman Oaks Galleria starting at 1:00 PM. The Sherman Oaks Galleria is located northwest of the intersection of the Ventura and San Diego Freeways at 15301 Ventura Blvd. (at Sepulveda Blvd.), in Sherman Oaks. Park in the Galleria parking lot (we validate your parking). The Community Room is located on Level 1 of the rotunda, one floor below the cinema.

This first meeting of 2017 is our Annual Pot Luck Banquet and Officer Installation. The meeting will also feature reviews of 2016, voting for the Annual Barbara Rightman award, and an auction. Please bring your duplicate coins, books, and other items. If you have images of your items please send them to Joe Tooma.

ACCLA's December and Annual Member's meeting was brought to order by President Ken Friedman at 2:40 PM. Treasurer Barry Rightman gave the Treasurer's report. Secretary Michael Connor gave his web report which included news of not one but two new articles in the ACTA ACCLA section. We now have 1283 followers on facebook. Joe Geisinger volunteered to act as ACCLA's representative to NASC and Michael Connor will act as an alternate. Joe Tooma volunteered to coordinate the Club's quarterly auctions and reminded members to send images to display to both generate interest in the auction lots and to make it more enjoyable for all. Merrill Gibson submitted an application for a table at the Long Beach Show next to the Long Beach Coin Club. Betty Eiseman circulated the sign-up list for the January banquet. Vice-President Roger Burry reviewed upcoming meeting programs.

This being the Annual Member's meeting, elections were held for Officers and Board members. The following were elected by acclamation:
President Betty Eiseman
Vice President Roger Burry
Treasurer Barry Rightman
Secretary Michael Connor
Past President Kenneth Friedman
Board Member Dennis Morley
Board Member Paul Ranc
Board Member Joe Tooma
Board Member Randolph Butler / Bob Lattanzi (as alternates)
Board Member Roy Iwata / Merrill Gibson (as alternates)
Congratulations to all incoming Officers and Board Members, with special thanks to Betty Eiseman who really did break through the glass ceiling this election round! Betty is our first woman Officer in well over a decade since Sally Marx moved north with her husband.

The program featured a a "retro" slideshow presentation by Barry Rightman on Personifications on Roman Imperial Coins illustrated with photographs of a selection of coins from his famed collection. Thank you Barry for a great presentation that stimulated lots of input from the audience.
