NEXUS Pipeline In Your Path?
Here's The Information You Need.
Goldman & Braunstein have been meeting with landowners affected by the NEXUS pipeline. In a continuing effort to keep our clients informed, here is the very latest on NEXUS. You can also read the questions landowners have asked at our meetings. Click here to view NEXUS Q &A's.

Projected timeline:
  • The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ("FERC"), the governmental authority overseeing pipeline projects will likely approve the NEXUS pipeline in late 2016.
  • FERC will then issue the Certificate necessary for NEXUS to begin construction.
  • Upon receipt of the Certificate, NEXUS is likely to file a motion for possession of properties in Federal Court, with tree-clearing expected to begin in early 2017 and construction to begin in spring 2017.

Our litigation outlook:

NEXUS is likely to file lawsuits in Federal Court upon receipt of its Certificate, and will attempt to take possession of your land prior to any judgment or settlement – and we are prepared. We have experts in land valuation, real estate valuation, pipeline safety, engineering and agriculture ready to assist and testify at trial, if necessary. We are a litigation firm and NEXUS's counsel knows this, which gives us the advantage during settlement negotiations. It also reduces the likelihood that your case will ultimately go to an eminent domain trial.

Landowners Compensation 22 Times More
Than Original Offers

Goldman & Braunstein recently settled a number of natural gas pipeline cases in northern Ohio. As experienced litigators, Goldman & Braunstein were prepared to take these cases to court. Faced with this reality, the pipeline company settled. Not only were the landowners compensated 22 times more than their original offers, but Goldman & Braunstein also negotiated the easement terms their clients needed to protect their property.
