A Word from the Dean

Dear Community,
In the last week of February our campus hosted the third annual Day of Discovery and Dialogue for which I was asked to make closing remarks.  In doing so, I decided that I wanted to follow in the tradition of knowing everyone by name and story, and so I opted to share my story with the community of folks who attended the last session.  Below is an excerpt from my closing remarks, which I thought important to share with all of you.

Speaking on your experience particularly, could you talk about how you came into this position at the Buder Center?
I came to the Buder Center in 2010. It was an opportunity to build the program and look at the intent of the mission and vision of the Kathryn M. Buder Center. The first priority for me was increasing the number of Native students. Originally, there were about seven students in the program. We currently have, as of 2016, 35 MSW and MPH students enrolled, representing 17 different tribal nations. My other goal was the enhancement of the curriculum.
