Community Pro-life Rosary intentions

February: Closure of Reading's BPAS abortion clinic.
March: for the rejection of abortion in the forthcoming referendum in Ireland. (Our Reading Mass on the feast of St Joseph will also be celebrated for this intention).
Every Friday of Lent, Stations of the Cross, 7pm
Stations at 7pm with Mass following immediately afterwards (at about 7:40pm). As last year, for the Stations we will alternate between the meditations of St Alphonsus and those of Blessed John Henry Newman.

Each week Stations will conclude with the veneration of the relic of the True Cross.

Lenten Community Almsgiving

Our Reading Community will raise money for the Syria and Iraq campaign launched by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). Thousands of displaced Christians in Syria and Iraq owe their survival to ACN - providing emergency aid for our brothers and sisters in great need. With our help, two key objectives can be supported.

  • Restoring thousands of homes devastated by Daesh.
  • Emergency aid – food, shelter, medicine and schooling – for those awaiting resettlement.
Financial Giving
The fifth precept of the Church is "To contribute to the support of the Church." Lent is a time we can reflect and challenge ourselves on this point. Can we encourage you to:
1: Consider when you last increased your weekly or monthly giving.
2: Set up a monthly Standing Order to 'FSSP Reading.' Through consistent monthly giving we are able to budget more effectively; while you will be supporting your spiritual home whether you are present or away. Our local bank account name, sort code and number are as follows:
FSSP England Ltd - Reading; (30-93-04) 02027330
3: Gift Aid your giving: If you are a UK tax payer who gift aids, we can benefit a further 25% from your contributions. Please click on the attached picture to download a Gift Aid form which can be printed, completed and sent to St John Fisher House or handed to one of the priests.

May God reward your generosity!

Catenian Bursaries: Bursaries for benefit projects or assisting the sick in Lourdes are available for 16-25 year olds. For further information contact Philip Byron at home@byron.go-plus.net

Oremus pro Pontifice
to be prayed at the end of Mass

Owing to the concern and bewilderment surrounding the Apostolic Exhortation, Amoris Laetitia, we will continue to chant the Prayer for the Pope, the Oremus pro Pontifice, at the end of Sunday Masses and pray it in English at the end of weekday Low Masses. This will demonstrate our attachment to the See of Peter and our filial love for the Holy Father, Pope Francis; while also expressing our desire, through prayer, for the clarification of this text, to end the confusion and reaffirm the perennial teaching or Christ and His Church.
