Fall 2019

Dear Praying Friends,

We've been busy since our last newsletter! Thank you for taking time to read about our ministry and pray for us.
Included in this issue of Ministry Notes:
  • Ministry to Children
  • Global Workers on Home Assignment
  • Training and Certification
  • Clarity on our Financial Status
  • Prayer Requests and Praises
One of our greatest joys is ministering to the 60 children of our global workers. We are sending birthday cards to them. Karis's smile captures their joy when they receive a personal card in the mail.

We've also begun Skyping with our global workers' children. We love reading them a story (as Carol is below), learning about their friends and schools, as well as praying with them. Sometimes they read their favorite books to us!
In September, we joined our member care team and 17 global workers on home assignment at the Connect Conference held at the Converge offices in Arlington Heights, IL. The week included one-on-one times, meetings with couples, general sessions, and informal gatherings. The event gave our global workers time to share their stories from their recent term on the field.

While some global workers like Ashley (pictured below) serve in countries that are relatively safe, others serve in secure locations. We're careful to avoid sharing too many faces, names, or stories. At the Connect Conference, however, everyone is free to share their hearts!
In October we attended the Pastoral Training in Member Care Conference in North Carolina. This was our third year to attend this training. It's exciting to be in a room filled with over 300 people from different organizations, all involved in member care!
Our week included great worship and teaching sessions, workshops on different member care topics, and reconnecting with friends like Sue (pictured below). We also received training in trauma care this year. We passed our tests, completed our presentations, and received certification with the Trauma Healing Institute (part of the American Bible Society). We're excited to have this training for our ministry!
We need additional monthly ministry partners so we can accomplish our ministry goals. These goals include traveling to spend time with our global workers, ministering to their children, assisting global workers as they prepare to go overseas, and receiving ongoing member care training.
Over the past 12 months, generous "special gifts" have allowed us to continue our ministry. We are grateful for every gift. "Special gifts" are not communicated as promised ongoing financial support for a specific dollar amount. This is why our promised support level remains at 51%. Is God directing you to promise a specific amount of ongoing support (to be given for the duration of 5 years, 10 years, or indefinitely)? This will increase our promised support level and allow us to continue our ministry. Thank you for your generosity!

We invite you to
view our ministry page to learn how you can invest in missions and help us reach our financial goals. Drop us a line; we would love to hear from you!
Please join us in prayer ...
  • as we continue to raise our monthly support so we can continue our ministry.
  • as we provide member care for more than 125 global workers and their 60 children serving in 20 countries across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
We are praising God for ...
  • great Skype and FaceTime appointments, as well as personal meetings with global workers on home assignment.
  • personal conversations with global workers via email, texts, and phone calls.
  • ongoing training to better serve our global workers.
Serving Converge Global Workers,

Joey and Carol
