RESULT |  | COMPANIES AT COPPE INCUBATOR HAVE A R$ 288 MILLION REVENUE IN 2015 | 57 graduate companies and 28 start ups at Coppe Incubator, a constituent part of the Park, ended 2015 with a revenue in the order of R$ 288 million, a result similar to the one achieved in 2014, which was of R$ 289 million.
Last year the companies created 1272 highly qualified job positions, 20% of which are for Masters and PhDs. The Incubator aims at stimulating entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer resulting from academic research to create new services and technological products. The companies selected could be incubated for three years, which can be extended for more two years. The Incubator offers physical and technological infrastructure and services for the development of the company within the business field. The Incubator releases yearly selection tenders. To be chosen, companies have to meet the following criteria: high degree of innovation in products and services, interaction potential with UFRJ, technical and economic viability. |

PRESS |  | REUTERS HIGHLIGHTS THE PARK`S STRATEGY OF DIVERSIFICATION | The development of the UFRJ Science Park, which has attracted companies like Ambev, L’Oréal and GE over the last years, was the topic of a news article published on July 28 by Reuters and then republished in over 10 Brazilian and foreign news sites. The article highlights the diversification process of the institution, which in its first years attracted several large companies in the oil and gas fields, as well as the work performed in the research centers set up in the Park. In the article, EMC², GE, Schlumberger, Ambev and L'Oréal give details on the strategies they follow to promote R&D. The Park currently has 13 companies, 8 small and medium-sized companies, 7 labs and 26 startups from Coppe’s Incubator. |
