AMBEV, OF ANHEUSER-BUSCH INBEV (AB INBEV) GROUP, ANNOUNCES THE CONSTRUCTION OF ITS INNOVATION AND RESEARCH CENTER IN UFRJ’S SCIENCE PARK |
In 2016, the UFRJ’s Science Park will feature one more research center of a company, increasing its portfolio to 12 large companies, as well as 6 small and medium companies, 6 laboratories and 27 start ups. The new Ambev’s center aims to develop new products, from beer to tea. This will be the seventh research center of the Anheuser-BuschInBev (AB InBev) group, which Ambev is part of, worldwide. ABInBev is the largest brewer conglomerate in the world operating in 17 countries and owner of leading brands such as Stella Artois, Quilmes, Corona, Bohemia and Brahma. In this second semester, the company will begin the construction of the new center, which will house more than 50 researchers, besides an Experimental Brewery, on the ground of the new building. |

In June, the Science Park was visited by two government delegations that sought the institution to better understand this space of innovation and entrepreneurship. On June 15th, the US governor of the state of Georgia, Nathan Deal, and a committee formed by representatives of local universities and executives of companies such as Coca-Cola, came to the Park. On the 29th, the park received the Minister of Education, Research and Innovation of Switzerland Mauro Dell'Ambrogio and representatives of universities of that country. |
![]() | NEW SPACES UFRJ’S SCIENCE PARK LAUNCHES NOTICE FOR PROPOSALS FOR NEW COMPANIES |
By the end of August, the UFRJ’s Science Park will open notice for small and mid-sized companies interested in installing on site. The spaces for those interested are located in two shared buildings with rooms from 38 to 597m² as well as sheds of approximately 190m² and a ceiling height of 8m. The announcement will be available at the Park (www.parque.ufrj.br) and Coppetec Foundation websites (http://www.coppetec.coppe.ufrj.br/). To settle in the Park, the company must necessarily have as objective the development of new technologies and partnership agreements with UFRJ. |
![]() | EXCELLENCE COPPE INCUBATOR’S COMPANIES HAD REVENUES OF A TOTAL OF R$ 289 MILLION IN 2014. FOUR NEW STARTUPS BECOME PART OF THE GROUP OF THE INSTITUTION´S ENTREPRENEURS |
Fifty-four graduated companies and 27 startups of the Coppe’s Business Incubator, an integral part of UFRJ’s Science Park, closed the year 2014 with revenues of R$ 289 million, 22% more than in 2013. "This result reinforces the importance of this locus of innovation and reveals the impact of cutting-edge technology developments in society," says Lucimar Dantas, manager of the Incubator. In addition to the extremely positive result, four new companies become part of the current group of 27 entrepreneurs from the Incubator. The new companies were chosen in a selection process - which began in March 2015 and may be incubated for a period of three years, having physical and technological infrastructure available to them, as well as advisory, training and monitoring services. The selected companies were: GT2 Energia, PETCELL, OptimaTech and Atomum. |

The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro launched on June 24th, the Platform Somos UFRJ, a portal that identifies, in a simple and organized manner, researchers, their expertise and their scientific production. The platform implementation at UFRJ received financial support from Siemens, currently installed in UFRJ’s Science Park. The system enables access to information about academic units, departments, intellectual property assets, and laboratory infrastructure. The system uses data provided in the Lattes platform, as well as makes them more visually attractive, aggregates information that facilitate the search for topics, people or areas of interest. |
