AGENDA
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT STARTS THE DISCUSSION ON THE NEW MODEL OF DEVELOPMENT AND INCENTIVE TO INNOVATION
The Secretary of Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic started drafting a proposal for a new model of development – post-tax adjustment. The main objectives are the consolidation of a national culture of permanent innovation and the establishment of legal regimes that make entrepreneurship and innovation viable.  The agenda is of utmost importance to all environments that, such as UFRJ´s Science Park, act in the promotion of goods and services to society through research, innovation and production of knowledge.  From the diagnosis and based on three central guidelines: (a) the conceiving of a permanent culture of innovation, (b) the creation of  network of medium-sized leading companies, and (c) the coordination of policies to support entrepreneurship and innovation, the following set of concrete proposal in five axis is presented: 1) Legal regime of venture capital, 2) Legal regime of the entrepreneur State, 3) Technology-university-production complex, 4) Multi sector technologies, 5) Strategic sectors: health, agriculture and defense
INCENTIVE
PARK PROMOTES THE 3rd “ARRAIÁ SOCIAL” AND COLLECTS FUNDS FOR UFRJ'S CHILDREN HOSPITAL PROJECT. THE EVENT IS PART OF THE SPONSORSHIPS PROGRAM OF THE INSTITUTION.
On July 23rd, UFRJ's Science Park promoted the 3rd ”Arraiá Social” (a traditional Brazilian party that happens in June and July). On this edition, the fund-raising event collected funds for the Storyteller Students Project, of IPPMG, the UFRJ's Children Hospital. The action takes joy and entertainment to the hospital through the reading of children’s books. Since its inauguration, the Park has already sponsored 10 programs, activities, awards and initiatives that aimed to promote the university whilst bringing benefits to society. In total, more than 50 thousand people have been benefited, either directly or indirectly, by our Program of Social Responsability. COMPANIES FROM THE BUSINESS INCUBATOR OF COPPE HAD AN INCOME OF R$ 289 MILLIONS IN 2014
Fifty-four graduated companies and 27 start ups of the Business Incubator of COPPE/ UFRJ ended the year of 2014 with revenue around R$ 289 millions, 22% higher than in 2013.  "This result strengthens the importance of this locus of innovation and reveals the impact of enterprises of cutting edge technology in society", claims Lucimar Dantas, manager of the Incubator.

ROBERTO LEHER TAKES OFFICE AS THE NEW DEAN OF UFRJ
Ph.D. in Education by Universidade de São Paulo and professor of the College of Education and of the post-graduate program in Education at UFRJ, Roberto Leher took office on July 3rd as the dean of Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. The professor of the College of Odontology, Denise Nascimento, takes office as vice-dean. The term of office for the new management shall be of four years, from 2015 to 2019.
PILLS
■ Canada - On July 24th, partners of four companies of the Business Incubator outlined their business structures to the representatives of the National Research Council, main entity of research and technology of the Canadian government. Their visit to UFRJ's Science Park was part of the agenda in Brazil to promote activities of the Canada Brazil Joint Committee for Cooperation on Science, Technology and Innovation.  The visitors attended to lectures of the following startup companies: Geovoxel, Oilfinder, Twist and Biotecam, in addition to an institutional presentation regarding the Park and the characteristics of this environment of entrepreneurship and innovation.
■ USA - In July, a group of 30 MBA students from University of Texas (USA) visited UFRJ's Science Park. The class, comprised of executives from multinational companies, such as Toshiba, Ericsson and Shell, met the innovative environment installed in the campus of the university and had the opportunity to learn about cases of entrepreneurship developed in the Business Incubator of Coppe/UFRJ.
