| PIONEERING SPIRIT | | SCHLUMBERGER, ONE OF THE PARK’S COMPANIES, RECEIVES ANP INNOVATION AWARD |  | | With its research Center located at the UFRJ Science Park, Schlumberger was one of the companies which received the ANP 2016 Technological Innovation Award. This award belongs to the category III – Technological Innovation developed in Brazil by a large company from the Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels Segment in cooperation with an Oil Company. The winning Project consists in the development of cement paste for cementing operations, drain plug and squeeze of oil wells, which ensure appropriate security in a CO2 environment. The increase on the guarantee of the well integrity when CO2 is present – in the reservoir or injected into the well for secondary restoration – is a result of fissures sealing and/or micro-anulars in the cement solidified by the contact with CO2, which would trigger the self-repairing effect in the cement itself. The technology can be used for cementing wells in reservoirs naturally containing CO2 associated to the formation fluids, as it is the case of the “pre-salt” wells in Brazil, or in those wells in which CO2 is injected, stored or extracted. |
| MULTIMEDIA | | THE PARK LAUNCHED INOVA PARQUE UFRJ (INNOVATE UFRJ PARK), A YOUTUBE CHANNEL FOR THE TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION FANS |  | | Last Friday, September 2, 2016, the UFRJ Science Park launched its YouTube channel –Inova Parque UFRJ (Innovate UFRJ Park). The channel will present lectures and seminars which happened at the Park and at the Coppe/UFRJ Business Incubator. It will also develop its own content providing tips on entrepreneurship and will present reports from research centers of the companies which have been converting science into products as well as services to the welfare of society. The channel was launched with a presentation of the history of GPE, which started in a lab at UFRJ, then moved to Coppe/UFRJ Business Incubator and is now part of the post-incubation program of the Park. GPE’s success story – over 6.000 clients used its high impact and monitoring computing technology – had some ups and downs, too. Check on YouTube |
