SPONSORS

Magic Center Region welcomes sponsors to help us produce the regional tournament and provide scholarships for teams to compete in the regional tournament or World Finals. If you have contacts who might be interested in partnering with us, please share the 2016 Sponsorship Package with them and let us know how to get in touch. We will waive the state tournament registration fee for any advancing team that helps us secure a sponsorship — monetary or in-kind — of at least $500.
Welcome back from the holiday break, and Happy New Year! Over the weeks ahead, Magic Center will be communicating important information about what teams need to do to be ready for the regional tournament. We urge coaches to read the emails in their entirety and file them in the way that works best for you. Additionally, you can refer to past updates that go out to the full mailing list by clicking on the Updates tab (which for many of you is under the More... tab) on the website.

Free Makeup Demo

A free Theatrical Makeup Demonstration will be offered this Saturday, January 9, from 11 a.m. to noon at Lee Middle School, 1201 Maury Road, Orlando. Team members will learn techniques for applying theatrical makeup. There is no need to pre-register, but we do need you to clear out promptly after the demo if you're not signed up for the afternoon Spontaneous Workshop.

Mandatory Judges Training
and Coaches Meeting

Make sure your calendars are marked for Saturday, Feb. 6, the date of MANDATORY Judges Training and Coaches Meeting.
All judges must attend the training, and cheese or pepperoni pizza will be provided for lunch. If they prefer, judges may bring their own lunch.
One coach from each team must attend the coaches meeting.

Judge/Worker Changes

Any last-minute changes for the judge you registered must go to Regional Director Anna Long ASAP. Emails will begin going out to judges next week, and all judges need to be on that mailing list. The penalty for a no-show judge is $100 and/or 100 penalty points!
Worker changes can be done on the date of the tournament, but new workers must know the name of the worker they are replacing when signing in and reporting to their assignment.

Program Ads

If you are interested in placing a team ad or business ad in the 2016 Magic Center Region Tournament program, the cost is $100 for a quarter-page ad; $200 for a half-page ad; and $300 for a full-page ad. Ads are black and white, and the size and orientation specifications are in the Regional Tournament Program Advertisement Sizes document on the Forms page. Ads must be camera ready and emailed to Anna Long by Friday, January 22.

Contests: Artwork Design
and Creative Hats

Magic Center is running two contests to give you more avenues for expressing your creativity.
First, we are seeking artwork to support the theme of the 26th Annual Regional Tournament: "There Is No Place Like the Magic Center." Designs should reflect Wizard of OMER (Oz) inspiration. For full details, see the Artwork Design Contest entry form. The contest is open to artists of all ages (including adults), and the submission deadline is Friday, Jan. 15. The artwork design contest winner will receive 100 Dragon Dollars to spend at the regional tournament merchandise area. Show us what you've got!
Second, we again are running the Creative Hat Contest. Anyone affiliated with the team or membership — including coaches, parents, friends, teachers and relatives — may assist with the hat. Entries are brought to the regional tournament, along with a completed copy of the entry form, for judging.

Get Up and Dance!

Magic Center is doing something new at this year's regional tournament: our region's first attempt at a flash mob!
Kids and adults alike can join in the dance, which will be filmed on the ground and via drone. In the weeks ahead, learn the dance and practice, and then on tournament day, meet at 4 p.m. SHARP at the Edgewater High School football field.
Big thanks to Spotlight Dance, Entertainment & Photography for the choreography. Check out the video below to learn the steps and start practicing!

Scholarship Applications Due Jan. 15
