Magic Center T-Shirt Pre-Orders
We are taking pre-orders for Magic Center T-shirts. Cost is $12 for youth sizes S-XL and adult sizes S-XL or $15 for adult sizes 2X-3X. To order, complete the online order form, then bring payment (check made payable to FLOMA or credit card) to the Feb. 6 coaches meeting OR send checks to Anna Long, 5633 Donnelly Cir., Orlando, FL 32821.
The pre-order form must be submitted and the payment received by Friday, Feb. 12, 2016.
Pre-orders will be available in a designated pickup area at the tournament so those who pre-ordered won't have to wait.
As those of you who follow us on Facebook know, Problem 2 teams had FOUR new general clarifications posted recently. Be sure your teams regularly check the Odyssey of the Mind Problem Clarifications page, as teams are responsible for ensure their solutions comply!
Also, when in doubt about ANYTHING in the problem, teams should submit a team-specific clarification by going to the Problem Clarifications page, clicking on the name of their long-term problem, entering their member number and ZIP code, and clicking "Log in." Clarification requests should be very detailed.
We have received word that there will be many issues with certain problems this year due to the complexity and subjectivity of the interpretation of the elements. To avoid problems, ask for clarifications. Making assumptions often does not turn out well. The deadline to submit team-specific clarifications is Feb. 15, 2016.
Forms, Forms, Forms
Your teams should find all the forms they need to prepare for the tournament on the Forms or Coach Zone/Forms page. Make sure they give themselves time to tackle the paperwork!
All judges in the database will be hearing from the Problem Captains early next week.
Before that email goes out, coaches will be copied on an email that will go out from Anna to ALL judges this weekend to check that all judges are receiving emails. Coaches should check with their judges upon receiving this email to ensure they also received it. If they did not, then the email information was entered incorrectly and the coach must contact Anna to make the correction.
As a reminder, the MANDATORY training will be held Saturday, February 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Edgewater High School in Orlando. Refer to the campus map for the location of the Cafe, where all judges and coaches will check in, and parking areas. (NOTE: An updated version of the map with problem sites will be posted in the weeks ahead.)
Teams with no-show judges may be assessed a $100 penalty and/or up to 100 penalty points.
Mandatory Coaches Meeting
At least one coach per team, or alternately one coach per membership, must attend the MANDATORY coaches meeting on Saturday, February 6, from 8 a.m. to noon at Edgewater High School in Orlando. Coaches attending for more than one team are responsible for providing that information at check-in.
Teams may be assessed a $100 penalty and/or up to 100 penalty points for a no-show coach or coach's representative.
The deadline for placing team photo ads or business ads in the 2016 Magic Center Region Tournament program has been extended through Sunday, Jan. 31. The cost is $100 for a quarter-page ad; $200 for a half-page ad; and $300 for a full-page ad. Ads are black and white, and the size and orientation specifications are in the Regional Tournament Program Advertisement Sizes document on the Forms page. Ads must be camera ready and emailed to Anna Long. Payment can follow.
Don't forget to put on your thinking cap to come up with a hair-raising headpiece for the Creative Hat Contest.
Coaches and parents are encouraged to help with the contest entries, which can be turned in with the contest entry form at the regional tournament.
