ClimateLaunchpad Cyprus National Final 2017
Last week, the Climate Launchpad Cyprus National Final took place at the PWC Cyprus headquarters in Nicosia! Organised by Chrysalis Leap and hosted by PWC Cyprus, the National Final saw 9 participating startups with 3 winners who will go on to represent Cyprus in the Grand Final. GrowGreen, a Junior Achievement startup run by 11 students from The English School in Nicosia, won first place! GrowGreen is the creator of Green Box, a biodegradable fertilising flower pot made from used coffee grounds. The GrowGreen team, along with two other Cyprus green startups, Echofixer (second place) and Be Right Bag (third place), will attend the Grand Final, which will take place October 17-18 in Limassol! Congratulations to all the teams and we wish them the best of luck at the Grand Final!
The GrowGreen team also won two awards in the Junior Achievement (JA) Company of the Year Competition. Representing Cyprus, GrowGreen was awarded the FedEx Access Award, which recognizes student-run businesses that best exhibit the principles of global connectivity. Additionally, GrowGreen’s CEO was awarded the JA Alumni Leadership Award, which is presented to individuals demonstrating outstanding leadership skills affecting their team and their company.
