Sisters autumn

Sisters Academy #4, Iceland by Sisters Hope

The falling leaves drift by the window when we breath. One year has passed since Sisters Academy#3 - The Boarding School - unfolded in Sweden. What follows is a glimpse of some leaves from The Boarding School. Leaves that are gathered in The Archive. Leaves of Red and Gold.

The Time Traveler came to the academy around 3pm on the 19th of September 2015 and spent Infinity Magnet hours with us. Maybe I met The Time Traveler during that time, maybe before, maybe after. Through The Time Traveler’s Notebook I get a glimpse of

When I read in students’ Notebooks and Diaries I experience some sort of self-reflection and relatedness. I also sensed Red surrounding me in The Boarding School. Red as a color, as a texture, a sensation and a mark. Another student wrote:

This quote immediately reminded me of a particular moment in the The Boarding School when I wanted to fight. I didn’t write it down but it stays in my memory.

The (w)Hole stepped into the circle and signaled that she was ready to fight. I wanted to go in and meet her but I hesitated and in the end I stayed on the side and watched her waiting patiently for someone to confront her but nobody came. Then she stepped back. Part of me regretted that I didn’t take the space. The fight wasn’t planned to happen. Other staff members had planned things to happen in that time frame. I respected the plan and my fellow staff members.

And by another students' notes, I am reminded that time goes on and new openings appear.

Since Sisters Academy #3 - The Boarding School I have tried to follow what I really want.
Most of all.
When autumn leaves start to fall.

Flow

Sisters Academy #4, Iceland

The Icelandic manifestation of Sisters Academy at the upper secondary school Myndlistaskóllin in Reykjavik has now come to an end. We arrived knowing little of what was to come. Ready to explore our margin of maneuverability and improvise an intervention rooted in a clear intention - to explore the sensuous - And in our performance method and framework of the poetic self, immersive sound-, set- and light-design and a ritualized interactivity design. We experienced the earth breathing and the unknown hiding among the Icelandic rocks. For the first time we intervened into an art school, where we consciously explored the relation between individual artistic practices and a poetic mode of being and the sense of your practice as an ongoing laboratory and the remembrance of the quintessence of your endeavors into this world through your art. We planted seeds and expanded the movement further yet again and felt the connection of everyone with lungs across cultural boarders within the gigantic North Atlantic region.

Our performance methods taught at Kunsthøjskolen

We have unfolded and taught our continuously-in-progress performance methods on among other the poetic self, how to build an immersive tableaux for this poetic self and how to create a sensuous class from your poetic self. It was an introduction to our performance methods, set-design methods and to our ways of creating interactivity designs. We invited The Untamed to facilitate with us and with her she brought her mentee The Translator. The Mentor-mentee relationship was evoked at Sisters Academy #3 – The Boarding School at Inkonst in the fall of 2015. We introduced our methods and they were deepened through their lived experiences. The Translator reflects.

Initiation in Norway
We taught and unfolded our sensuous performative methods at Kunstfag, at the progressive University of Adger. The strong interest is the intersection of art, education and research, so the collaboration is quite spot on. Read more here.
OpenOpus
We were invited to present our work and methods at OpenOpus, Scenekunstskolen, The Danish National School of Performing Arts. OpenOpus is a format to explore and unfold new approaches to both creative practices, learning and research with participamts from all the world. Read more here.
Talk at the Rythmic Music Conservatory
We were invited to share our work in this cool inter-aesthetic format at the Rhytmic Music Conservatory in Cph, Denmark. The overarching theme was Meta-modernism – Interestingly a way beyond post-modernism and thus a confrontation with deconstructivism and unreflected critical gazing. Read more here.

Tribute

Jung, The Red Book

“I also had to detach myself from my thoughts through turning my desire away from them. And at once, I noticed that my self became a desert, where only the sun of unquiet desire burned. I was overwhelmed by the endless infertility of this desert. Even if something could have thrived there, the creative power of desire was still absent. Wherever the creative power of desire is, there springs the soil's own seed. But do not forget to wait. Did you not see that when your creative force turned to the world, how the dead things moved under it and through it, how they grew and prospered, and hour your thoughts flowed in rich rivers? If your creative force now turns to the place of the soul, you will see how your soul becomes green and how its field bears wonderful fruit.”

C.G. Jung, The Red Book: Liber Novus
