November PTSO Meeting Notes:

Happy Fall! We had an amazing turn out for Fall Family Night. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, our sponsors for your support and a big "thank you" to our teachers/gator staff for organized this event together with PTSO for our families.

We have many exciting things coming up at the swamp in the next few months. If you missed the meeting, look for our live broadcast recording on Greenfield Elementary PTSO’s Facebook page. PTSO has many opportunities for people to get involved!  Be on the look-out for volunteer sign ups and come to our next meeting on December 5th @ 11:30am in the library at the school.
Principal Update:

Mrs. Longnion thanks our families for being so great! We are so happy to announce Greenfield as an A-rated school, one of the highest scores in our district and 3rd in the district for growth - Congratulations!

The bond & override vote has PASSED which is going to continue to be so helpful for our schools. Among many other improvements and addttions each district school will have a full-time social worker on every campus.

Some parents may have noticed over the last year a couple of large trees in the playground field have died, they will soon be getting removed.

Our cafeteria will be getting an acoustic ceiling installed to help keep the noise down - I’m sure you can all imagine how loud it can be sometimes at lunch. The college flags will be taken down during this improvement, as we were informed having those up can make the sound worse.

Thank you PTSO for the new projector, screen and new microphones. Mrs. Allen’s music students were able to use the new microphones for their recent performance.

District installers should have our new PTSO-funded drinking fountain and water bottle filler stations in by December.

PTSO and Teacher Updates:

The new projector and screen have been installed - YAY!
Mark you calendars for December 6th, PTSO would like to show off the new screen with a Holiday PJ Movie Night. Wear your Holiday Pajamas and enjoy some hot cocoa and popcorn with us. We are looking for a chair to run this event, if you are interested in helpings us out with planning this please email us at for more information.

Other updates:

Playground Enhancements- We have been working very hard to gather all information to help us make the best decisions on our playground updated. Our subcommittee has conducted surveys, done research and obtained quotes on a new play structure for the 4th-6th grade playground - one of the top 3 things the survey results asked for, but with quotes being around $50,000 we are now looking into some other options. PTSO will be funding a mister system along the 3 walls surrounding the playgrounds. This cost will be approximately $8,500. We hope to have this done ASAP to ensure we are all set before our warmer weather comes back. Shade trees are still in the works, if we have any families that have any connections to getting any trees donated, please email subcommittee chair Melissa Gulbrandsen.  We are also getting some information on a program called Tree Matters, which is a non-profit that will plant trees at schools but also will inform staff and students on how to care for their new trees in the long term.  Dad’s Club plans to install new turf in our gator pits.

Holiday Shop- Our annual Holiday Shop is coming up December 9, 10 and 11. Everything is ordered, arrived and ready to sell! A sign up genius will go out later this month, we are always looking for extra help with this event. It is so fun for our students to go shopping for their family and friends.
Harkins- Orders have all be turned in and should be delivered soon if they haven’t been already. These orders brought in around $600, which is amazing!
Gator Store- Our online Gator Store is now opened. If you order online items will be delivered straight to your child’s classroom.
Dad’s Club- Dad’s Club 14th Annual Swingin’ in the Swamp Golf Tournament will be held November 23rd at Superstition Springs Golf Club. There are still plenty of openings left for teams, so don’t forget to sign up! They are also looking for hole sponsors and raffle/silent auction donations. Please visit Golf Tournament for more information.
Restaurant Nights- Thank you families who enjoyed some delicious Oregano’s last month those sales brought in $140. December 18th will be our next restaurant night watch for details.
Yearbooks- As in previous years, the yearbook covers will be designed by one of our 4th-6th graders. We will vote on a winner at our December PTSO meeting. We are in need of photographers if you are interested please email Ashby. You can also order your yearbooks anytime at Lifetouch and enter
ID Code 13572420.
Bashas and Frys- Bashas brought in $115 and Frys brought in $216 last month.
Daddy Daughter Dance- The date for this event is tentative for March 20th, we are working wit the junior high to make sure it doesn’t conflict with other events.
